7/15/2010 Dear Senator Ben Nelson, I trust you will change your position and vote yea on the extended unemployment bill before the senate; upcoming next week. You are doing well in Nebraska, one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation. Well, that could well change if a lot of the unemployed decided to move to Nebraska and started looking for employment. I don't mean just the professionals, but the common worker and the many migrant workers and some of the out of work homeless as well. I run in to them every day and I tell them, go to Nebraska....so does the media. Or maybe you are nothing more than a Bush conservative and believe that the Bush Tax cuts for the wealthy contribute to the decrease in the deficit. HOG WASH! The tax incentives contribute only .32 per capita cents on the dollar to the economy, while extending unemployment benefits will contribute $1.06 per capita to the economy. There are 2.5 million unemployed workers that have lost unemployment benefits as of June 5th 2010 and more to come, 309 thousand in California and 119 thousand in Florida alone. That's a lot of votes if you have any aspirations beyond the senate. Oh by the way, let's not forget the 700 thousand census takers that will be out of work very, very soon. Please step up to the plate and vote for the everyday people, not just the wealthy people like you. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose, it's a win, win proposition for you politically as well as a humanitarian for you nation. Thank you, Harold McDougal CC: Senator Bill Nelson, FL CC: Congressman Bill Young, FL
Harold
