Just booked for six weeks in France and had a minor problem that i was attempting to correct but need to speak to them by phone..................try and do that. they do not want to talk to customers and because it was a good deal i said, oh well...................however having read everything here..................i just cancelled and wont deal with them again.

9/8/2016 Europcar - Booked a car in July 2016 for 2 weeks in Lisbon
Booked a car in July 2016 for 2 weeks in Lisbon Portugal. The car was prepaid and my credit card was charged immediately. When I got to the counter right after the flight 6AM , they told me that if I got the car at that moment it would cost me 30 extra euros, or I could wait 20 minutes and there would be no charge. So me and the other passengers on the same fight that booked thru the company had to wait on line for 20 minutes, Then they proceeded there will be another extra 67 euros if another person drove the car. At that point I was beyond mad. Left airport 7:30am. On August 12 I got charged 62.61 from the europcar which I have no idea for what.. I filled the gas thank, no tickets, no easy pass because I paid cash, have all the receipts . So now I have a dispute thru my credit card. I refuse to pay until Europcar show me a receipt for the 62.61. FOR WHAT? With that said, please beware of this Europcar. I will never do business with them. and the customer services is horrendous, Extremely disappointed with this "Europcar.." Don't book thru them, if you think they are cheaper, think again.

9/1/2015 Europcar - Rented a car from CDG - 3 Hour wait for a Car!
Rented a car from CDG Paris T1 summer 2015. 3 hour wait to get a car that was pre-booked.Only one person at the desk who was taking 45 minutes per customer to rent a car. Finally a manager came to supervise and calm down the long line of people waiting. Finally got a car. Noted some minor 3rd party damage that happened during rental (a 3-inch scratch). Filled out paperwork. Promised an invoice in 1 week. Instead got nothing except a 900 euro charge on credit card. Unable to claim on own insurance without paperwork. Asked customer service for paperwork every week for last 8 weeks with no luck. Europcar claims that insurance department is still working on things, yet charge is already made on credit card. No interest from Europcar staff on helping resolve issues. We all know better now.

Eurpocar UK!!!!
Still waiting for a refund of 250GBP for insurance excess deposit.
Couldn't use car for 24 hours due to damaged oil seal - no refund offered!
No response to emails addressed to customer service or to CEO Europcar UK Ken McCall.
Highly unlikely that I will use them again.

Never again Europcar
We reserved and paid up front for our rental car from Europar in march 2015.
Our trip was not until June 2015.
In June we were off to our vacation and unfortunately due to a flight cancelation we missed our connecting flight from New York to Frankfurt, Germany and had to take the next flight which was exactly a day later.
When we arrived at the Europcar center in Bad Homburg, Germany we were told that our car had been rented to someone else because we were a day late then the reserved date.
When I confronted the rental agent about the fact that we already had paid for a full 4 weeks in advance and that it was of highest importance that we get a car he just laughed and said that we were at fault and that the charges on the credit card would be reimbursed minus one day of rental cost.
After that conversation we went ahead and rented a car from a company called SIXT.
They were most understanding and had a car for us within a few minutes.
It took us hours to get in contact with someone from Europcar so that we could let them know what was going on and that we wanted to get our money back.
Every week we called Europcar and asked for our refund and every time we were told some other lie as to why the money was not refunded yet.
Every week we were told that they would look into it and then get in contact with us either by phone or email.
It has been 4 weeks now and we are back in the US.
We have called our credit card company and fortunately they started a dispute against the charges.
Very sad!

2/9/2015 Europcar - Terrible! I rented a car in Italy and the GPS
Terrible! I rented a car in Italy and the GPS didn't work at all. We used our phone maps. When we returned it we told them the GPS did not work. They charged our card anyway. When I got home I wrote to them and asked about it. They said that it did work. I insisted it did not and told them to check the usage and get back to me. I followed up three times and they never responded. Then I received an email saying that I received a ticket while in Italy and that they were charging me $45 extra due tot he ticket (on top of whatever fee the supposed ticket will have). I wrote to them again and asked them to contact me because we were never stopped by the police or got a ticket for anything including parking...I followed up twice - no response. I WILL NEER USE THEM AGAIN! What a horrible company.

10/19/2014 Europcar - I was quoted 467GBP to rent a car for a month

I was quoted 467GBP to rent a car for a month over June/July. I was charged $1500 which is more like 900GBP

I had no upgrades or damage, returned the vehicle full. I received no receipt explaining the charges and have now spent a week trying to figure out how to contact them. Telephone numbers on their various websites were not working and an IM customer service chats this morning could not help me or even provide me with any information regarding the charges.

This billing issue added insult to injury. When I picked up the car I had to wait over an hour with the pick up branch being utterly overwhelmed by the crush of customers trying to pick up pre-ordered rental cars and too few staff on duty. The manager of the branch made very little effort to solve the excessive wait until after myself and other customers complained.

We made a prepaid reservation of a small 4x4 over the internet for our holidays in Oman. As expected, the reservation was confirmed and my credit card was charged.

When we arrived at the Europcar counter at Muscat airport, they told us that they made a mistake and gave our car to someone else with our contract! After after a while they pretended seeking for a solution (their counter was a pure mess and they were not able to find the actual contract they gave to another person), they said that we will take another available car, a really really big SUV.

They then pressed us (it was around midnight) to quickly leave the place without giving us any updated contract and no proof at all that they screwed up our reservation and that they tried to somehow correct their mistake.

At that point, it was still more or less ok, apart of the fact that we expected a small, agile and economic car for our holidays and we ended up with the exact opposite.

Problems started the day after when a warning light illuminated on the dashboard indicating a low tire pressure. This is when we stopped at a service station to pump the tires that we realized the dramatic condition in which they were. And what was inevitable happened, a few days later a tire burst, fortunately on a road, but in the middle of nowhere with an outdoor temperature over 40°C. We were fortunate enough to find a place where they could change 2 of our most damaged tires.

It's worse to mention that the same problem could have happened while driving an off-road track, lost in the middle of nowhere, which is very common activity in Oman.

We contacted Europcar to tell them about the problem but they just replied that flat tires were not covered by insurance and we had to repair them at our own expense!

Icing on the cake, after all these troubles, when we were to return back the car, they asked for our credit card to pay for it. It was a prepaid reservation!! They said we were wrong and the car was not indicated as paid in their "system". They even tried to convince us by waiving a fake contract with our name, probably in place of that of the person who took our car in first place.

We refused to pay anything and they let us go by claiming that their manager would contact us. Two days later, I received an email without any form of politeness asking a proof of my reservation. I forwarded the confirmation email that I received from Europcar and it is now a week since I have not received any news from them.

This is clear that Europcar lost a customer.

SEPTEMBER 23, 2013. - - UNFOTUNATELY WE ALSO RENTED A CAR FROM " EUROPCAR " AND WE ARE VERY DISSAPOINTED TO. 1.- WHEN WE GET THERE THEY CHARGE US WITH EXTRA INSURANCE PREMIUM. 2.- THEY CHARGE US FOR AN EXTRA DRIVER, WHEN MY WIFE DOES NOT EVEN KNOW HOW TO DRIVE STICK SHIFT. 3.- THEY OFFER US A " GPS " THAT ACTUALLY GAVE US MORE PROBLEMS DE SOLUTIONS, LIKE: WHEN WE ARE ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE " GPS " TOLD US TO MAKE A U-TURN ON THE NEXT BLOK? WHEN WE RETUNED THE CAR WE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE " GPS " AND THEY TOLD US THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO NOW, THAT WE SHOULD RETURNED THE " GPS " AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - YOU BELIEVE THIS ANSWER. 4.- WE ALSO BEING CHARGE FOR FOUR TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS - 25 EUROS EACH- THAT WE DO NOT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT IT. THEY SEND US A BILL TO OUR HOME -IN USA- FIVE DAYS AFTER WE RETUNED THE CAR AND THE WORSE PART IS THAT ALL PAPER WORK WAS IN FRENCH.
I WILL RUN A FREE ADVERTISING FOR " EUROPCAR " IN THE INTERNET, FACEBOOK, TWITER, YAHOO, GOOGLE AND ALL OTHER MEDIA THAT I CAN FIND, JUST TO SAVE OTHER INDIVIDUALS TO GO TROUGHOUT THE SA NIGHTMARE.

I rented a car from Eurocar in France, May 2013. I prepaid to get a slightly better deal and they immediately charged my card. To my surprise they charged me again when I returned it. I did not dicover this until I checked my charge card. They don't give any contact number on their website so it is impossible to dispute. Beware.

5/23/2013 I rented a car from Europcar in London, England.
I rented a car from Europcar in London, England. My travel agent got the quote and made the reservation months before we arrived in London. We received the confirmation/reservation paperwork. All seemed in order. When I picked up the car, they said the coverage was NOT for zero liability (which is what we requested and what the confirmation paperwork indicated.) I had no choice but to pay more money to get what I had originally requested. I was NOT happy.

My travel agent and I have been fighting this for going on five weeks now. We are getting NOWHERE. They continually admit doing no wrong. They admit no mis-communication. So frustrating.

Oddly enough, there was an Australian couple renting a car ahead of us. They had very similar issues that we did. I believe this is a chronic/HUGE issue for Europcar. They are misleading and outright lying. I will no longer be using this company. And my travel agent refuses to use them as well.

3/8/2013 Europcar - Rented a car in Brussels which we returned on
Rented a car in Brussels which we returned on January 25th. March 4th we got notice from Europcar that said we got a ticket on the 25th which was enclosed (written in Dutch). No where on either document does it say what the violation was, where it took place or at what time. We can't figure out no only what is is for but who and how to pay it, if indeed it is ours. We have been trying for days to reach ANYONE at Europcar to get this resolved. In addition, Europcar indicates in their cover letter that they will charge us 30 euro (to our credit card) for every administrative notice they send. HELP!
