11/9/2011 Food Stamps Hawaii EBT SNAP - They are doing the same thing to my son and his
They are doing the same thing to my son and his wife and baby,my son works full time but does not make enough for the high rent and bills here in Hawaii. He turned in all the paper work 4 times, actually had to get copies of his check stubs 4 times because they lost them. 4 times!!! Then Fugimoto told him thats all she needed and when it came time for his snap benefits to be on his card..well you pretty much know what happened. They will not return calls, their answer machine is full so you can't leave a message. My son took 4 mornings off work already and does everything she asks with no prevail. I am writing to the governor and I may call KHNL news. For discrimination.

8/23/2011 Food Stamps Hawaii EBT SNAP - PLEASE READ - EVERYONE! I am currently trying to
PLEASE READ - EVERYONE! I am currently trying to get food stamps - never thought I would see the day. I have been working since I was 14 years old, and from 18-27 or so an average of 74 hours a week, paying tens of thousands of dollars in taxes EACH YEAR. I have NEVER NOT ONCE bitched about tax dollars going to welfare and such services - though I STRONGLY disagree with the way it works, I would have not eaten as a child nor had been clothed if it had not been for welfare as my mom was a lazy ass that didn't want to work a job. Some people say get rid of welfare - if they didn't eat off it as a child I understand their feelings and they are completely valid - but I did.

I lost everything I accumulated my entire life due to a bad relationship, including my money and sanity, lol. I picked up and moved to Maui, and while doing something totally new for me - WWOOFing, I applied for food stamps and got them near instantly - them knowing I was not working a full time job nor seeing one yet at that time. When I found a full time job in my career - it took months to gain a client base and my checks were slim to none - not enough to pay rent much less eat off. What surprised me is that when I did go out and seek and find a full time job - they stopped being proactive about helping me while I still needed it. I do realize there is a limit to what you can make and still qualify, and I was WAY under that amount for hte beginning months. You would think they would be faster to give food stamps to the individual busting their ass trying to build hours at a job than me, for example, while I was taking it easy and WWOOFing for a few months, right? Wrong. After MANY attempts to get the right paperwork to them from my employer and one on one communication between them and my employer, and my employer repeatedly giving them every single answer they needed - my employer became frustrated with them and refused to ever deal with them again. They were impossible, changed what they wanted constantly, and when given that - said it was not it. They simply did not make sense to me nor my manager nor even the owner, who both are very successful people and not DUMB as to answering the simple questions that were asked.

I did go in after six months of this - explain to them how I had lost nearly 20lbs since this ordeal began - and was looking sickly causing me to have problems at work. People thought I was on drugs. Given I was 180 at 5'6", I was originally about 207 and MUCH leaner at the same height obviously. The workers said I looked fine - and to me they had decided that they were now experts in MY field of practice - and when a trainer drops 20lbs + but looks fatter not leaner - something is wrong. I plead with them to pay attention to me and help me at the counter, and they came back with a card with six months on it bam wham that day. I was so happy! Regretfully, I lost my job due to many circumstances ("maui cruisers" which aren't reliable and odd haiku landlords made changing my location a bit too frequent) and shedding weight and hearing the word ice come up here and there in conversation with my name - infuriated me.

I reapplied for the future months that day, which was a few months ago, and was told I would be contacted by mail with an appointment date in two weeks. No mail. Multiple phone calls and voice mails - no response. Again, frustrated.

I know for a fact that MANY EBT reciepients exchange their 300 dollar card for 150 dollars in dope or what ever kind of drug they do. I am not knocking them for being addicted to drugs - nor am I knocking them for using their card to pay for it. When someone's life is ruled by addiction, weather we want to accept it or not, their decisions are driven by the addiction - and won't always be good ones - many times or all the time be the wrong decisions - that is just a fact of lie that will never go away - but I AM pissed that we do not drug test EBT and welfare reciepients. This is ridiculous. This would give them MORE reason to quit, and it would free our tax dollars up from paying for crack, heroin, meth, whatever the case may be. THEY aren't abusing the system as I see it - the SYSTEM LETS them do it so it's the system that's faulty if you ask me. Drug testing for ALL people who are getting public aid.

And also, NO EBT OR FINANCIAL BENEFITS FOR ANYONE WHO HAS TWO ARMS AND TWO LEGS AND CAN WORK, FOR ANY LONGER THAN ONE YEAR. PERIOD. One year though if need be - I'm all about it! I paid into this system for years and it's not too much to ask help from it when I need it - and don't forget - THOSE of us recieptients who paid taxes for years - YOU PAID THESE PEOPLE WHO GIVE US SUB-STANDARD SERVICE - do they get sub standard pay? Either way, that pay comes from taxes. They need to get it straight.

One more thing - 95 percent or more of the population is able to get up off their asses and work. Take some pride in yourselves and teach your kids something different than being a bumb and bleeding the government for MY TAX DOLLARS. If you do it, they'll probably do it to. Have some dignity, get a job and work for a living.

Oh and in case you're wondering who is this guy bitching about people on welfare and is getting EBT? My EBT will in total for be less than a year, most of which I was working but not even close to making it not due to lacking hours as I worked 60+ hours a week but it takes time to pick up new clients in my field. I will be opening a personal training facility in the next few months due to help from a very good friend here on Maui and once again will pay tens of thousands of dollars for EBT cards which are sold half price for drugs - DISGUSTING.

7/8/2011 Food Stamps Hawaii EBT SNAP - I applied for SNAP on June 16, 2011 and did not
I applied for SNAP on June 16, 2011 and did not hear anything on its status. When I appeared at the Kapolei office on June 27th, they said my application is currently being reviewed. I just got a letter today, July 7th, saying that I missed my SNAP interview appointment on June 23rd and I will have to reapply again if I don't respond by July 16th. I had to fax my response that I have not received any message via phone or letter, but their fax line is not available and the phone just kept ringing. When I was there in person, the front desk missed calling my name and I was there until the office was cleared out. When they double-checked my app, they said it is still pending. No sign of the worker coming out to discuss any appointment with me.

7/5/2011 Food Stamps Hawaii EBT SNAP - My EBT review was due June 9, 2011. I delivered
My EBT review was due June 9, 2011. I delivered all required forms and proof of rent, utility bills , bank statement{current}, last years income from SSS plus forms for evaluation from EBT, delivered in person to the Maui office on Luniilo, Wailuku, HI on June 8, 2011.

I never received a phone call, letter or any other communication from any office. I called EBT Customer Service four times and was unable to voice a complaint nor talk to anyone regarding this problem. Telephoned the Maui office and was also unable to leave a message nor talk with a person regarding this matter.

At this moment I am unsure if I have medical insurance and I know I do not have EBT.

How is this resolved?
