I was out of town on business, and needed to pay my bill....but didn't know my account number. After speaking with "computer guy" and then a brief hold, spoke with Sue and she was able to give me my number after I was able to confirm some details concerning my account.
Having dealt with other electric companies in the past, I felt very satisfied on how quickly and professionally I was assisted.

It's IMPOSSIBLE to get a real person to speak with at this company. I have been unable to obtain a hard-copy bill for the past two and a half years because no one picks up or calls back and online is very unfriendly for website use. I stress every two months trying to get into the system when I am guessing the bill should be do and find the customer service absolutely terrible. And to think -- I'M TRYING TO PAY MY BILL! Seems like UI is doing it wrong, no? PLEASE STRAIGHTEN THIS OUT SO THAT CUSTOMERS CAN BE HELPED IN A REASONABLE MANNER!

Suppose to be at our house by 330p. Called because they were not here we call then give us a time of 630p. Supposedly the girl at the call center said the guy had it in his computer that was coming out the the job would be doe by 630p. Well it's 830 and never showed up and call center is closed. And still have no power....they are worthless. Hope that jerk is cooling off Ohh soo nice in his house while I'm 8 months pregnant dying of heat.

Your telephone answering service is trouble, Get a real person to answer the phone, I am calling concerning an over growth of tree weeds on the wires which grow in the people yard behind my yard. You use to come and keep the growth under control, now it is taking over the wires and the yards. I don't have any tree weeds in my yard and I now that no one planted them there. It's just a mess, my lights went off three times yesterday and I was informed by the CPP that the wires behind my yard belong to your company. Can you please have someone to come out and trim some of this mess back? Before it covers up all the wires completely I do think that this is dangerous and unsightly. Please continue to help us take care of our neighborhood I know no one care anymore and it shows. And its a shame.

11/21/2013 I would like to know why the Illuminating Company
I would like to know why the Illuminating Company would feel it is okay to Rape their customers who have detached garages with a separate electric meter servicing their garage. I built a garage, as did several of my neighbors, and we all contacted the Illuminating Company before deciding how to run electric service to our garages. We were all told the same thing, there would be not minimum usage or minimum fees, we would only pay for the electric we used.

At first, this was the case, my bill was between $5.00 to $7.00, but suddenly, without warning our monthly electric bills for our garages went up in the $40.00 range, for using approximately 31 KWHs per month.

This is supposedly because they got the PUCO to agree on higher distribution fees for detached garages with their own meters as they are similar to a commercial business. This also increase the fee for KWH usage. OUR GARAGES ARE ALL ZONED RESIDENTIAL!! YOU CANNOT RUN A BUSINESS OUT OF YOUR GARAGE BECAUSE OF THIS!

So my Customer usage fee is $7.00,
the Distribution Related Component fee is $26.95
the Cost Recovery Charges are $6.48
Basic Charge of $1.56
Toatal $41.99
KWH used: 31 KWH

They let us go ahead and hook up service with them knowing they had already submitted thier request to the PUCO to raise these rates to this rediculous amount. Had any of us known this we obviously would have opted to run power to our garages from our homes instead. So we are being charged over $500.00 per year to have a garage door opener and lights adn outlets in our garges, does this sound crazy to anyone else???

When I contacted their office and talked to one of their managers I was told that they realized that there is a large amount of detached garages with separate electrical meters. When this was pointed out the opportunity to cash in on this was obvious, after all these meters needed to be read by their meter readers.

Really, I wouldn't have minded paying a minimum usage fee that would cover the meter reading, but this is rediculous, and I am sure there are a very large amount of senior citizens that are on a fixed income and are now being charged almost half the amount they pay to have electric service to their homes.

Yet another example of the the monopoly the Illuminating Company has in Cleveland and surrounding areas. What do you figure this additional revenue adds up to????

Nothing less than RAPE, screwing the citizens they are suppose to be servicing!

I CANNOT BELIEVE THEY WERE PERMITTED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS!!

I tried to bring this to the attention of Joe Pagonaskis @ Channel 5 News via email on several occasions but received no response.

Talk about the fleecing of the American people!!

Who did the people who are complaining talk to I had a very pleasant experience. I talked to Jordan and he made me laugh and was very professional and handled my account very quickly he then turned me over to Pam who was very efficient also and made my sign-up for service a very pleasant experience .. Thank you Jordan and Pam kudos to you both.
