I have tried to cancel my reservation on line but it will not let me... saying sorry there is an error with my amendment. I spent 30 minutes just getting to this phone number and another 10 waiting to be transferred through two other numbers. All I want to do is speak to a HUMAN being so I can get this straightened out. I am having the same experience as Bob (comment (9/29/2015). My reservation was not used because I had a problem with my driver's license and was not accepted by Thrifty, Tampa International Airport, FL.. I could not find the way or process in cancelling a reservation as indicated in the webpage. I just tried sending an email for the cancellation but when my credit card bill statement arrived, I was charged in full. Took me hours to find a tel number supposed to be in London. I tried to call (long distance from USA) and was made to wait until my phone battery was drained. I am still trying to get in touch with RentalCars.com. Can somebody help me?

Rentalcars.com advertized it had free cancelation policy. Be aware you will be penalized full charge if you cancel within 48 hours.
They sent me a car rental quote which I rejected(the price was almost twice as much as same local rental company asked for). In spite of this charges appeared on my credit card. It took me several phonecalls and a couple of emails before they dismissed charges.
There is no phone number available to speak with customer service representative. Quite a headache to deal with them.

9/4/2015 Sad that RentalCars.com has so many problems
Sad that this business has so many problems. This should be a wonderful service business for the traveler, but it sure gets scary when there are so many complaints. I especially "shudder" when I read about people getting unexplained charges when they get home. I need to rent a car for a vacation, but I am "scared to death" after reading about things that happen.
