"SUBARU" is a Japanese word meaning "unite", as well as a term identifying a cluster of six stars, which the Greeks called the Pleiades - part of the Taurus constellation.

According to Greek mythology, Atlas' daughters turned into this group of stars. In 1953, five Japanese companies merged to form Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. The new corporation adopted the "Subaru" cluster of stars as the official logo for its line of automobiles.

I have bought 3 Subaru autos from Auto Nation in Spokane, WA. On last one back in 2011. I serviced my cars regularly and did not have any problems. Last year I noticed a burning smell and I took it to Auto Nation to have it look on. I was told there was nothing wrong. Last April or may I noticed the smell again and the hood getting very hot and staying hot for hours. I brought up my concerns to staff at Subaru nation during my oil change. This time they discovered there was n oil leak which was causing burning smell. How the leak started they could not tell me. This vehicle has only 42,000 miles and has been cared for. Is the leak a factory defect? who knows. The issues is that when I first expressed my concern about this, my vehicle was under warrantee. It is interesting now that the warrantee run out, they discovered there was a problem with the oil leak. The staff person who took care of me on 07-05-17 let me know that because I had a history with them they'd call headquarters to see if they could extend the warrantee. She 'd call me as soon as she heard somehting from her supervisor. However this has not happened. It is rather frustrating because I strongly believe the staff were hiding something from me when I informed them about the problem. It is a shame that a customer who has a history would be treated this way. SHAME on you staff at SUBARU Nation. I'd make sure never to buy anything from them again, nor will I recommend their dealearship as I've done in the past.

I had previously bought a WRX (CVT) in April 2015 VIN JF1VA1D68F8833097 with my son who had just graduated college and commissioned in the US Navy (flight school). We all loved the vehicle and is great for him as he now moves from navy base to navy base in his career.
So much so that I went to buy another WRX (6M) for my wife yesterday from DCH Subaru Riverside, the experience was not good at all!!!
? Agreed a reasonable price.
? They showed me the financial printout vehicle deal which in the top left hand corner showed an item called Tx Accessory for $990?
? I inquired what this was, only to be told it was a dealer installed security system.
? Why was it not included in the window sticker details in plain sight, No reply!
? Why so much, No reply!
? What make is it, No reply!
? Where is it located on the vehicle, No reply!
I held Subaru in such high esteem, but to be subject to such devious measures of a dealer wanting to make a profit in such an underhanded manner puts many things in doubt!
This was to have been our third Subaru with the first one being a Subaru Baja 2003 model (VIN 4S4BT61C371077637).
Now I am not too sure at all!

I was given an estimate for repair on 02-02-2016 for a new Face Plate part number: 86213AG67A for A 2007 Subaru Outback now I understand that this part is no longer available through Subaru. Sad that Subaru has decided not to stock these parts for a vehicle that is only 9 years old especially when they speak so highly about the mileage that a Subaru can accumulate over the period of time you own the vehicle. Additionally the Face Plate is the control panel for the vehicles A/C, Heating and Radio. Because you have decided to abandon carrying this product can you please tell me were I can find this product in aftermarket, black market or otherwise.

We had leased two Subaru's in the past 6 years and had very good luck with them so when the last lease was up we decided to buy our next one. We picked out a 2015 Forester SE loaded. Its a beautiful comfortable automobile. Now the problem! About a month into owning it I noticed sometimes when I came to a stop and turned left or right the CSR fidnot want to go! I mean literally it did not go forward for a couple of seconds, like the engine cut off. It didn't but felt like it because then all of a sudden the car started moving normal again. This does not happen all the time but enough that it could cause me to have an accident. Dealer says its normal for the new transmission. What!! Normal. Let's see I have owned a Body Shop for 36 years, master certified, now I have the service department telling me this is normal? Not! Now for the big one. While driving on a ice covered road my all wheel drive Subaru starts feeling like its floating even when isloiw down to 35 miles an hour. I thought I was going to spin out. This lasted until I got off the ice. So I took the car on a different snow covered road and it did the same. Now get this, it does not happen all the time. You never know when it will do this. I have driven many all wheel drive vehicles in my life but this one scares me the most!! What a pile of junk !!what do I do now. !!

I went to a Subaru dealer on Tuesday and I gave them a price on what I could afford to lease a month. After sitting there for 4 hours and the salesman running back and forth to the manager, they gave me a price on a 3 year lease. I went back to lease the sedan on Thursday, and the salesman told me that he was extremely sorry and kept apologizing for giving me the wrong information. To me, it was a bait & switch scam. I am a senior citizen and don't deserve to be taken advantage of. Subaru is getting a bad reputation for bait and scam operations. I will stick with my Toyota Camry where the dealer doesn't lie and I never had a problem. This will be my 8th Toyota and thought after the 7th, I would try a new car. Guess what? I'm sticking with my Toyota Dealer because if they say something,they honor it. I also plan to telephone your company that's how badly I felt.

I have a Limited 2015 Outback ($33k) that I bought 8 months ago. The voice recognition on the navigation never worked in the car. It was replaced (along with the rear wiper motor which was making horrible noises) and the voice recognition on the navigation still doesn't work. Went into the dealer to talk to someone. Service told me to talk to sales. The sales person told me "I don't have navigation and most people use their phones. You need to contact customer service". You have got to be kidding me?! I suspect that the voice recognition for the navigation system is flawed and it won't ever work but no one wants to admit it. This is my first and last Subaru - not so much because of the car but they don't back up their cars. My husband will be getting a new car in the new couple years - we will go back to Hondas and Toyotas (where they take care of their customers before, during and after the purchase).

1/30/2016 defect in the service schedule for Subaru Outbacks
There is a defect in the service schedule for Subaru Outbacks with multiple belts instead of serpentine belt systems for the 100,000-mile servicing. I took my mother's 2004 Outback in for it's scheduled replacement of the timing belt and full 100,000-mile servicing. During this service, they also replaced the head gasket and disassembled the whole belt system to achieve this repair. It cost almost $2400 for this maintenance and everything required by the schedule was performed,
However, after less than 2000 miles after this servicing was performed, the harmonic balancer shifted due to the rubber shim/damper and damaged the timing chain cover as well as broke the AC belt. Again I returned to my Subaru dealer to have this repaired and I was billed another $700. I would think that this harmonic balancer could be replaced during the 100,000-mile service for the cost of $200 for the part and save numerous customers the heartache of multiple expenditures. The Harmonic balancer is not even scheduled for replacement on the service schedule.
I feel Subaru owes me the cost of this extra service man hour of $600 labor since this part could easily be replaced during the previously scheduled check up and servicing if it was so designated for replacement during the timing chain replacement since this part is removed during that mechanical disassembly.

in sept 2014 i purchased a 2015 forester. at christmas i was gifted a remote starter. when it failed to work every time, i took it back and they checked it out and found the battery to be too low to start the car remotely. i took the car to subaru on sheridan dr. in amherst. of course the long drive charged the battery so they found nothing wrong. i have heard stories repeatedly about the batteries on 2015 models being too small, but spring came and i didn't try to use the starter. winter started late this year and i seldom tried the remote (it failed) but was too busy to have it looked at. I am a woman, 71 years of age, in poor health and need heat. finally took it to the installer last week and this week they installed a new starter but to no avail. it was the battery again. i am so exasperated by this. i am not going 20 miles (one way) to be told again there is nothing wrong. i told the stater people to just get me a new battery and get this fixed ASAP.
however----- i feel duped by subaru and feel also that they should pay for the new battery. i found on line that in such cases subaru puts in a stronger battery than was the original.
that kind of money is not a small amount for me so i would like to be reimbursed.
