4/23/2012 What happen to LIPA Customer service. I cannot believe the type of service you guys are proud of. I have been hung up on, talk to rudely and even told my information was never received because no one seems to want to do the work. No one cares anymore, I have worked and dealt with many companies but, this has far been the worst customer service ever offered. To make matters worst this is not from 1 employee this is from 3 out of 4 I have dealt with. Unbelievable. Something needs to be done. Totally disgusting service transferrred coldly sucking of teeth, annoyed oh my goodness! I am Shocked I have heard LIPA employees were rude but never did I think to this level. You big coats you better do something because you can't remain a monopoly forever and with this service anyone will be willing to pay more to run from you. Do you not listen in on theses calls where is the training. Again I say unbelievable! Totally shocked I just have to shake my head.

12/1/2011 We've lived through LILCO, KEYSPAN and now LIPA/NATIONAL GRID. LIPA is by far the most mismanaged organization of them all. As a matter of record, Long Island currently pays the highest rate for gas & electric in the entire state of New York and is now asking for a 1.5% increase. We are dealing with a system that is falling apart after almost being in place for 100 years and the best they can come up with is to call several states away for help at a price of $6 million. How about starting to replace the problem instead of putting band-aids on them. This is now the 21st century with many new ways of generating power. If other parts of the state can do it at a cheaper price why are we in this boat to begin with? Another concern I have is the fact that National Grid is Long Islands Gas Company to begin with. Many years ago, a federal bill was passed that said NO foreign countries can operate any energy business in the United States for security reasons. Why then is National Grid (a Canadian company) running power here on Long Island? With a $87 million drop in the cost of fuel & natural gas coming off the operating budget why are we even talking about rate increase. The company has stated that these increases are largely due to contractual and regulatory agreements. Guess the same if true for the rest of New York state, so why are Long Islanders paying the highest rate in the entire United States and most of all right here in New York State. Time for a complete change...don't you think?

9/8/2011 LIPA is a disaster. They hooked me back up temporarily almost a week ago, and never came back to put a transformer on the new pole. I have no phone service, and no cable until they finish the job. No sign of them anywhere.

9/2/2011 Not only is the phone system completely automated with no opportunity to speak to a person but the Customer Service Centers are closed. Getting answers or assistance is impossible. If you are the only person on your block out of service due to a downed wire you will be serviced last as they get blocks of people back on line to look good. This wasn't even a hurricane !

9/1/2011 LIPA is doing the best they can providing the circunstances. They have restored services to thousand of homes working around the clock. People, please, be more understanding and give LIPA the credit they deserve, they are only HUMAN. We should be greatful that Irene did not caused more damage than it did. Instead of complaining think possitive and you will see a better result!!!! My sincere thanks to all the LIPA hard working and dedicated personnel. Sonia

8/31/2011 I have live wires hanging on my roof which is a fire hazard and tried getting in touch with lipa for the last three days with no success. Extremly disappointed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

8/31/2011 I moved to Levittown 9 years ago.I have had over ten outages ranging from hours to days. Not considering the recent hurricane outages, there is no doubt that the infrastructure has to be reassessed. If LIPA is incapable of doing this,I think a petition to the Public Service Commission should be iniated.Maybe through this some answers will be forthcoming.Enough is enough!

8/31/2011 Have a family member on Long Island. Very concerned for their safety. Tried calling LIPA emergency 800 number to find it is now not taking calls!? Called "local" emergency number. That too is out of service. Who regulates these guys? They are providing no emergency phone number and no accurate estimate of service restoration to assist customers in making plans (evacuate? stay? what?). LIPA, people are not looking for miracles, just some information and courtesy. Stop spending so much time telling the press what you have done and concentrate on what you should be doing. Long Island, this is a travesty. Go to a map of National Grid's power outages in upstate New York to see how a utility should respond & communicate. And how about a little attention to Westbury, Levittown and Copiague? More than 50% of those 33,000 customers are still without power, while 95% of Garden City's 8,400 customers have power.

8/30/2011 Pay the highest rates for energy in the country, pay LIPA executives double what they are worth and 65% of the people they serve are still without power. They close their switchboards so people can not call in and complain or even register medical emergencies. New York State take over LIPA and fire all of the people who run this mess. People on Long Island deserve better!

8/30/2011 Really!!!! You only put up the ones you approve of!!! I am so upset with how you are handeling this storm & to boot have one of your people on the raido today 8/30/11 saying customer service is answering phones, now your lying too!!!! Sooooo upset! Give me a real idea, am I out for a week I can deal, but I would know to make arangements! I think that we do need another power company on LI, you are just not good enough! DO BETTER!
Lauren
8/30/2011 Really??? Now you're not even answering any of your phone numbers. LIPA should be ashamed of themselves. I don't want to hear you're BS concerning how many people are out of power. We need another electric provider on LI. LIPA was in no way shape or form prepared for Irene, we only got a tropical storm and they can't keep up. Oh but I'm sure there will be no delay in our bills this month...mmm and maybe even a little extra charge since we've seen in the past how they like to overbill and then we're told that LIPA will pay the overage back over the next three years.. really??? How about I pay my bill over the next three years you thieves.
