  2. What is the deal? About two years ago I ordered Elle. A very short time later a notice to renew came in the mail and without talking to me, my husband paid it. The original order wasn’t ready for renewal, I had plenty of months left. There was however a very minor differentiation in the spelling of my name on this ‘renew’ order. Interesting, that. For a long time after that I was getting two Elles a month, each coming with the same photo on the cover but a one character difference in my shipping/billing name.

After several months I noticed that the two Elle magazines, identical in every way, had the subtle change that under one name I received one cover shot, and under the other slightly different spelling of my name I received the exact same magazine down to every detail *except* that the cover shot was different. Very interesting, that. Is it possible Elle knew they were sending two magazines to the same address and had decided to make the covers different? I have to admit, a quick glance through the mail on a busy day made it seem as though two totally different magazines had arrived. A busy woman often sets magazines aside promising herself she’ll ‘read them later’.

Is this standard operating behavior for Elle? I know some magazines ship different covers for different coasts but both of these Elles, exact in every way except the cover and the one character differentiation in the spelling of my name, were coming to the same address. Also this one character difference in the ‘re-newal’ name; I’m not quite sure what to think of that.

I chose not to renew the magazine several months ago. I let the subscription drop. Now Elle is sending the most ridiculous threats. I know the magazine business is in trouble but I find Elle’s subscription antics unethical. They leave no contact numbers on their bills, nor no options to mark “cancel”, “not-interested’ etc. I did not renew yet Elle kept sending me magazines and saying I ordered them and now Elle keeps sending me ‘last chance’ threatening letters; one week to the original name and on a different week to the name with the one character difference that Elle made up.

Please, dearest Elle, stop harassing me. I wonder how many other subscribers and former subscribers are going through the same mix-ups on your part. If you are doing this on purpose, shame on your ethics. If it is a ‘computer glitch’ then fix it, please. You’ll find my email listed. Don’t post my name, thank you.

  3. I have been with elle for two years, and have always received each issue every month. I got a notice from them a while back so I paid. And now I have received another notice saying I have topay to renew. And i have not received the most recent issues. Please help me solve my problem

  4. nceling gift subscriptions to tTerri Ireland (Bazaar), and to Tracy Ward (Elle) The effective date for these cancellations is: October 9, 2015. Also, be informed that it is my opinion of your statement, “THe failure of your gift of Elle won’t go unnoticed by TRACY WARD” is insulting to me. Signed, FRED S. OWEN 9husband of ANNJE OWEN.

  5. I tried twice to renew my subscription online today and could not complete the transaction! Please have Customer Service contact me by e-mail about this issue.

    Thank you.

  6. I am so frustrated at not receiving my Elle Decor magazine. I have no choice but to contact the BBB. I encourage others that have been ripped to do the same

  7. YOU HAVE AN EXCELLENT MAGAZINE BUT AT MY AGE I PREFER THE DECORATING/SUCH AS VERANDA, LIVING ETC., SO I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING “ELLE”‘ WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. I HAVE BEEN A CUSTOMER OF VERANDA FOR A VERY LONG TIME SO I DO NOT GO TO AN AGENCY TO ORDER MY MAGAZINES.

I AM 78 SO ELLE IS GREAT FOR MY DAUGHTER. I WILL NOT GO INTO DETAIL HERE BUT I ORDERED A PRODUCT ON LINE ON A TRIAL BASIS ONLY PAYING THE POSTAGE. I RETURNED THE PRODUCT AND RECEIVED THE REFUND FOR THE POSTAGE BUT THIS COMPANY CHARGED MY VISA ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $89.95 AND “THE CARD YARD” CHARGED MY ACCOUNT 13.95. AFTER MY TELEPHONE CALL TO THEM, THEY BOTH CREDITED MY VISA ACCOUNT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS SETTLED, BUT APPARENTLY IT WASN’T. .

I CANNOT GO INTO DETAIL BUT 3 MAGAZINES WERE CHARGED TO MY ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF $19.95 EA. AND ELLE WAS ONE OF THESE MAGAZINES. THE BANK HAS DISPUTED THESE CHARGES AND CREDITED MY ACCOUNT FOR NOW. I WANT TO CANCEL ELLE

I WAS TOLD THAT THE NAME OF THE AGENCY THAT SUBSCRIBED THESE MAGAZINES IN MY NAME WAS “THE CLUBS”, APPARENTLY MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION WAS TRANSFERRED TO THEM, WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. I WILL BE RETURNING “ELLE” TO YOU IF I RECEIVE ANY MORE. YOU HAVE AN EXCELLANT MAGAZINE BUT IT IS NOT FOR MY AGE. THANK YOU.

  8. I really hated this magazine; nothing but advertisements! And when I tried to cancel the “free” trial subscription; I had to jump through hoops! I couldn’t even talk to a real person! STAY AWAY!

  10. Mag subscription is a scam. You think you are getting a magazine for FF miles but then they charge you and auto renew for way more than you should pay BEWARE.

YOU CAN CANCEL PROBABLY BECAUSE OF SOME LAW SOMEWHERE, it takes preserverance Call 1-877-789-1194 and be prepared to be frustrated but keep trying.

Their call center or at least one center is in Salt Lake City. I thought Mormans were suppose to be goody goody but they can run a good scam, maybe they aren’t Mormans , I hope they are not. I will never EVER order from them again.

  11. Please cancel my subscription. As much as I love your magazine, it seems like fraud to continue since a cancelled trip to Paris.

  12. I too was receiving ELLE without having made a subscription. I called this help line and they were very nice and told me the reservation came from SubCo and gave me that number. I called and spoke with Jennifer who explained it was a free offer but if I did not want want it, it could be cancelled or changed to another magazine (which I also did not want). But she was very nice and I had no problems.

  13. My husband started receiving your magazine a few months ago which was apparently meant for his dental office, but was sent to our home address. He had retired over a year ago and now we have moved to another state and the magazine has followed us–being forwarded by the post office..

You are not receiving any money for your magazine (which he did not order and will not pay for) nor is it being read by any patients in a dental office. It goes right into the recycling container. It is to your benefit to cancel the subscription. Please contact me at my email address and I will give you the information you need to cancel the subscription.

  14. Hello to all as I am not one to express my online opinion, so here it goes.!!!

I received an Invoice from House Beautiful and has been previously stated there was no telephone number which resulted in having to go online to obtain.

Because in my email inbox I began seeing info from Harpers Bazaar, Elle, etc. I wondered if it was a domino effect. Yes! Because when I had gone into Publishers clearing house and entered the boxes of questions pertaining to my likes, etc .this is what resulted!! I

This was confirmed after speaking to a customer rep. who was rather polite and helpful. Needless to say that it was cancelled forthwith and would even be receiving the next copy because the process was already in effect.

One has to be extremely careful when it comes to free trials and offers as there is always a catch.

It is important that you check your mail as soon as you receive.so that you can call and cancel as there is always a time frame .. If you are not one of those then you may find yourself having to pay an invoice. It is so easy to get upset but we have to take responsibility and not lash out to the representatives who are always so very understanding and who can receive the blunt of our anger. Thank you. It took so much time to end it all!!!

  15. ELLE Magazine – I NEVER ORDERED YOUR MAGAZINE!!!!! CANCEL THIS BOGUS SUBSCRIPTION!!! IF ANYONE ELSE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS CANCELING, I WAS TOLD TO CALL SUBCO 1800/258-3350. I AM ON HOLD WITH THEM NOW. HOPEFULLY, THIS ISSUE WILL BE RESOLVED.

  16. I have to CANCEL my card to get rid of you people. Who do you think you are??? Hearst Corporation, you SUCK!!!!! No SHAME. NO VALUES!!!

Did you really think you could continue to bill my card and i’d never react?? It’s called STEALING!!

  17. Please remove me from your subscription list. I did not order, nor subscribe to your publication. I see that I am not the only one having this problem. Rest assured if this continues, and my not paying for something that I did not order, I will have no other choice than to seek any and all legal remedies afforded to me, should this matter be turned over to a collection agency.
