On April 13, 2014 I pick-up a rental car from Hertz BWI, I was in a hurry, so I spoke with the attendant and informed them they charged the wrong credit card, and that I’m a Government employee and tax should not be charged to my credit card. They stated ok but never made any changes to the receipt. Upon return of the car I stated again that tax should not be charge, and there response was do you have a tax exempt form I said no? The attendant said call the corporate office it shouldn’t be a problem to have them taken off. I contacted the number given to me which was 1-800-654-4173, I spoke with Don who was not the most customer friendly person in the world, and he told me there’s nothing he can do you have to pay the tax, I asked to speak to his supervisor, who name was Phyllis, she stated you should have showed your tax exempt form, so you have to pay the tax. This is not the first time I’ve rented from Hertz’s, but it’s the first time I was asked for a tax exempt form. I stayed on the phone for over 10 min waiting on no assistance. I’m a gold card member who just got basically slapped in the face; there is no type of incentives for using Hertz’s. My rental record is 12ssssxxx. Now I’m waiting on the charges to be placed on the other card it still hasn’t been done. Is this the type of message that Hertz’s wants to put out to the Government and GSA about overall service.

  2. I am a Hertz Gold member and have been for over 25 years. On 4-16 of this year, I had a reservation at Dallas Love Field. I took a flight that arrived 30 minutes earlier but to my surprise when I got to the Hertz car location, my name was not on the reservation board. I had my email confirmation as well as a hard copy. I went inside and stood amongst a few irate customers. After about 20 minutes (this erased the extra time I was trying to save on an earlier flight), I asked the attendant what was the problem. She politely stated that they had no cars to rent. I asked her then why did they accept my reservation and why hadn’t she told me before she wasted my 20 minutes. This is the second (and last) time in as many reservations that this has happened to me at the Dallas Love Field location. Hertz probably doesn’t know that I have other options. Options of other rental companies that Hertz is not affiliated with and will exercise my right next time I travel anywhere, not just Dallas.

  3. HERTZ DOES NOT EVEN REACH ONE STAR. This company should be BANNED from everywhere. They are an absolute rip off. Charged my account three times. They have the absolute worst, most disrespectful and ignorant staff members ever. From the rude people getting the cars all the way to the manage and Corporate office representative. They are an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE. Do yourselves a favor and DO NOT get ANY services from HERTZ. At first I thought it was just the hertz from my area until I traveled and got the worst “hertz experience” of my life.

Horrible customer service, my son was rear ended, the insurance company rented a car from hertz, he went to work that day, an the next morning went to go to work the care did not start, he is in between two jobs, had to get a ride to work, the hertz company said nothing they can do, that we need to call roadside, explained we wanted a different car, but delivery it to him at work because he cannot go to the rental place do to his jobs, they said sorry we cannot help, but at the same time they are collecting payment from the insurance company, I don’t understand why is it so difficult to take a car to his work, when after all they took a car to him at the autobody shop. I then call the insurance company, an they apologize, they will get a car from enterprize, an will not be using hertz any longer. Also I called corporate to see if they could help me an to no avail

  6. The worse customer service ever. Do not rent from Hertz. If you experience problems with your car not only will the customer services reps treat you VERY rudely when you contact them, you will also BE BILLED FOR THE ENTIRE AMOUNT OF THE RENTAL EVEN IF THEY TELL YOU THEY HAVE ADJUSTD THE BILL.

    THE WORSE CAR RENTAL COMPANY EVER! IF I COULD RATE THEM A NEGATIVE STAR I WOULD.

  8. The worst car rental company ever. For 20 years I have used Enterprise, and I found a less expensive (I thought)option through Hertz. Never as a professional have I ever been treated so rudely as I was from Maria at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Airport Terminal office. Customer Service is non existing as she hung up on me. I guess live and learn, but I learned for you. Stay away from Hertz, they are theives and liars.And Maria is rude and should not be in her position. With customers today, you need everyone. I guess Hertz has enough that they dont need me or anyone I can tell or blog to. SAVE YOURSELF SOME HEADACHES< STAY AWAY FROM HERTZ !!!!!!!!

We waited and waited for service people don’t really care I showed him my car they kind a like a big deal didn’t give a crap on my return I had to go looking for people so I can get to the airport flight for people there like make me wait and then I had a wait for shuttle the guides the shuttle driver was behind a desk president circle card to me now is this extra weight it’s going to the trash. Last time I rent from Hertz better to deal on Expedia

  11. My car rental was supposed to be $25 a day. when I went to pick it up the next day,they charged me 133. 51. They are committing fraud and it looks like they are ripping off a lot of people as well! I spoke with Bruno the manager in San Diego. He assured me that my credit card would be credited for the correct amount. However I just spoke with my credit card company and they said that nothing has been credited. I am very upset. I am still hoping…

  12. I rented with Hotwire Sales Final on credit card, 3/23. When picking up car at Cleveland Hartsfield, I was charged another $155.60 on 4/6 unbeknowns until I saw credit card. I ask this be credited back to me. I had already paid $182.08. plus was charged 20.00 for gas, when I told him I would bring it back full which I did. Please make this right.

  14. I tried to rent a hertz car today and was told they only had one car left it was a Elantra and it was dirty inside and out. The agent kept taking calls and so had to wait over 45 mins to get the contract sign this was the worse experience I have ever had with any car rental. AAA recommended Hertz I plan to let them know not to recommend Hertz going forward. The agent was Eric Hoenijnan he was very slow in processing the contract and kept me waiting while taking calls. Then when he bought the car around it was filfty. You need to check how they are representing your car rentals.

  15. Bad companies that don’t give good service have to charge nonsense fees to make up the money they lose due to customer loss. Instead they should give good service, lower their prices, and have good company ethics.

  16. Hertz Platinum Gold service is a humiliating mess of ineptitude and opacity.

    I have been trying for two months to get enrolled in my husband’s Platinum account, and have talked to over TWENTY different call center reps with no hope. Hertz is a terrible company that is the epitome of arrogant corporate greed.

  17. We will never,NEVER rent from hertz again!!!! My daughter and her friend ( both young,inexperienced in car rentals ) were taken advantage of,downright lied to by the salesperson at counter . They were charged for things they said they didnt want and led to believe they needed to buy insurance . I’m

    OUTRAGED !!!! So for a 5 day trip, they were OVER CHARGED $346 !! !!! That’s above what the rental cost!!!!! I will be calling BBB,and the Attorney General s office to file a complaint.

    Now more than two months and a half I made a booking for a car company Hertzz your line on a ford diesel on 2/06/20014 and had to return the car I called a week before my reservation to all the as a same type of car and instead we got one smelly , dirty , under or criticizing , I asked the Manager directly from Maidstone to change the car but I was told that there is another call old customer of this company and where I was going to hire your firm. but here at Maidstone services lacking . Manager responds arrogant and only when I have to collect the money then it’s ok . I did not ask anything for free and pay as we paid the two months and a half but I do not understand what happens to You the prestigious firm that? If a customer comes and book a Ford diesel which is given a opel corsa petrol ? If you return a car perfectly clean and gets dirty one instead ? Respect Respect Hertzz company cars from the company but some do not respect their customers !

  19. Buyer Beware – Big problems at the Hertz Dallas Love Field location. To make a long story short, I walked-in to this Hertz location without a reservation for the first time in my 17 years being a Hertz member – big mistake. As such, I was told the rate for the car was $99 a day, for a Chevy Cruz? However, Elizabeth informed me since I’m a gold member I qualified for the Managers Special. The special is a 20% discount off the rate if I accepted the insurance. Are you kidding me, this location obviously is under pressure from Hertz to sell more insurance. How does the manager propose to do this? Spike the rate on the car and then offer a 20% discount if you accept the insurance. I refused to accept this and was told no problem, we can cancel and charge you the higher amount without the insurance, I politely asked to speak to the manager. What does Elizabeth do, gets a co-worker? Eventually, they charged me the going rate which was $150 off the first rate and $80 off the so-called special. I really expect more from Hertz and their employees and hope this practice is stopped, as many customers are not familiar with car rentals and could be taken advantage of.

  20. Rented a car from Hertz in Tampa. they hit my card for $900.19. $600.00 more than the contract and know I have to hire a Lawyer just to get my money back. WILL NVER DO BUISNESS WITH THE HERTZS COMPANY AGAIN!!!!!

  22. $18.00 per day for a GPS in car I did not want or order. I do not travel often and do not rent car very often , so did not know you were charged for use of a GPS and sales person did not tell me there would be a charge for the GPS. This was a very expensive lesson learned. So if you get into a car with a GPS and don’t want it, get out of the car quick.. Read your paper work closely. Sad part I had my own GPS and never used theirs

  23. My Insurance company has Hertz as a preferred rental, why in gods name I do not know! I have always had much better service from enterprise!

    1st up they charged me 50.00 deposit telling me it will just be held, until I bring car back then used to refill gas. That did not happen at all. That evening I checked my bank it was already deducted, now I had also told them I preferred an American car that didn’t happen either, but no complaints with Nissan, except is was so low to ground hurt me getting in and out. When I returned car only using 1/2 tank of gas they once again charged me 43. to refill it so I was ripped off there, I said what about my 50.00 deposit, why not take it out of that, oh no mam that isn’t how its done. So your 50.00 will be refunded right away to your account, now 4 days later is not right away to me. So when I called office to inquire the girl was snippy and acted like she didn’t have time for me, and hung up on me in mid sentence. I was not being rude or cursing, I call this terrible customer service and I will keep telling everyone, and will definitely call my insurance company with a complaint also, so end of story I will never use Hertz again!!

  24. They are expensive. I cancelled a prepaid online booking 3 hours past my 24 hour time frame so have to pay $50. For what when my reservation was two months away. And my credit card was not pre paid yet. It was stil pending so not prepaid. So they made $50 for canceling a two month advance reservation. That is price gouging and bad business ethics. I will never rent from them again and am telling all my friends not to unless they want to pay higher then other car rental companies. And I thought triple a was saving me money booking through them. Not so, look at pricing on your own cause thy did me no favor. That is an outrageous fee for the company doing absolutely nothing . I’m thinking of canceling my membership with Triple A and just going with allstate cause I can’t believe they work together.
