Amazon Prime Customer Service Phone Number, Charges, Cancellation and Complaints

Amazon Prime customer service can help with membership charges, cancellation, refunds, Prime Video subscriptions and Amazon Prime complaints. Call 1-888-280-4331 or use Amazon’s signed-in Customer Service system. Amazon uses its main customer-service number for Prime support, so an automated system may answer before you reach a representative.

Amazon Prime Customer Service Phone, Chat and Online Support

For faster routing, sign in to the Amazon account connected to the membership or charge before requesting chat or a callback. The representative may ask you to verify the account, but an unexpected caller should never ask for your password, one-time verification code, gift-card claim code or full payment-card number.

How to Reach an Amazon Prime Representative

  1. Sign in to the Amazon account that has the Prime membership.
  2. Open Amazon Customer Service or Prime Membership settings.
  3. Select the membership, subscription, charge or Prime benefit involved.
  4. Use the self-service option when it provides the cancellation or answer you need.
  5. Choose chat or request a telephone call when that option appears.
  6. Ask the representative to confirm any cancellation, refund or billing correction in writing.

You can also call 1-888-280-4331. Because telephone prompts and contact choices can change, avoid relying on an old button sequence. State whether the problem concerns a Prime membership, Prime Video-only subscription, Prime Video add-on, digital purchase or shared Prime benefit.

Is This an Amazon Prime Problem or a Regular Amazon Order Problem?

Use this Amazon Prime page for membership billing, free-trial renewals, cancellation, membership refunds, Prime Video, add-on subscriptions, shared benefits and Amazon Prime complaints. For missing packages, late deliveries, ordinary merchandise returns, Marketplace sellers, account access, unauthorized orders and general Amazon complaints, use our Amazon Customer Service guide.

A delivery can still be relevant when the complaint is specifically that a paid Prime shipping benefit was not provided. Begin with the affected order, but use the main Amazon guide for detailed package tracing, replacement, return and seller steps.

Amazon Prime Customer Service Help by Issue

Prime issue Best starting point
Cancel Prime or a free trial Open Prime Membership settings, complete every end-membership screen and save the confirmation.
Unexpected Prime renewal Compare the charge with the membership renewal date, free-trial end date and other Amazon accounts using the card.
Membership refund Cancel the membership, review the refund shown by Amazon and ask how benefit use affected eligibility.
Prime Video charge Check for a Prime Video-only plan, add-on subscription, rental, purchase, ad-free fee or third-party billing.
Cancel a Prime Video add-on Open Prime Video Account & Settings, choose Subscriptions, find the add-on and select Unsubscribe.
Accidental video purchase Do not watch or download it. Check Purchases & Rentals for “Cancel Your Order.”
Prime benefit not working Confirm the correct account, active membership, payment status, item eligibility and benefit terms.
Prime delivery-benefit complaint Open the order and compare the checkout promise with the actual delivery. Use the main Amazon guide for package handling.

How to Cancel Amazon Prime

  1. Sign in to the Amazon account connected to the membership.
  2. Open Prime Membership settings.
  3. Select the option to update, cancel or end the membership.
  4. Continue through every confirmation screen.
  5. Confirm whether benefits end immediately or on a displayed end date.
  6. Save the cancellation email or a screenshot of the canceled status.
  7. Check later to make sure another renewal is not scheduled.

Amazon may display plan information or other choices before cancellation is complete. Continue until the membership page clearly shows that renewal has ended. Amazon’s official Prime cancellation instructions direct members to end the membership through Prime settings.

Cancel an Amazon Prime Free Trial

A Prime free trial generally becomes a paid membership unless it is canceled before the displayed trial end date. Check the renewal date and payment method, complete the membership-ending screens and retain the confirmation. If a charge already posted, cancellation stops future renewal; a refund for the posted charge is a separate decision.

Prime Purchased Through Another Company

If Prime Video or another related subscription was created through Apple, Google Play, a mobile carrier, an internet provider or another company, cancellation may need to be completed through that provider. Check the statement wording and the account’s subscription settings before deciding which company controls billing.

Amazon Prime Membership Cost and Unexpected Charges

As of August 2026, Amazon lists standard U.S. Prime membership at $14.99 per month or $139 per year, before applicable tax. Amazon may offer other plans or eligibility-based prices, and rates can change. Confirm the price, trial length and renewal date shown in your own account before enrolling or renewing.

Why Did Amazon Prime Charge Me?

An unexpected Prime charge may be connected to:

  • A monthly or annual membership renewal
  • A free trial converting to a paid plan
  • Another Amazon account using the same payment card
  • A household member or another authorized card user
  • A Prime Video-only subscription
  • A Prime Video add-on subscription or ad-free fee
  • A movie rental, purchase or pay-per-view event
  • A subscription billed through Apple, Google, a carrier or another provider
  • Unauthorized use of the payment method

How to Identify an Amazon Prime or Prime Video Charge

  1. Check Prime Membership settings for the plan, renewal date and payment method.
  2. Review Memberships and Subscriptions.
  3. Check Prime Video Account & Settings, purchases, rentals and add-on subscriptions.
  4. Compare the amount with other Amazon accounts in the household.
  5. Ask authorized card users about recent subscriptions or digital purchases.
  6. Contact Amazon if the source is still unclear.
  7. If the charge is genuinely unauthorized, secure the account and contact the card issuer promptly.

Do not assume that every charge containing “Amazon,” “AMZN,” “Prime Video” or “Amazon Digital” is the same membership. For statement-specific help, see the Amazon Digital Services charge guide or the Prime Video 888-802-3080 charge guide.

Amazon Prime Cancellation Refunds

Canceling a membership and receiving a refund are separate actions. Amazon says members who have not used Prime benefits may be eligible for a full refund of the current membership period. Amazon’s Prime Terms and Conditions also include refund language for customers who cancel within three business days of signing up or converting from a free trial to a paid membership.

Eligibility can depend on the cancellation date, renewal date, benefit use, shared benefits and whether another company sold the subscription. Review the refund displayed during cancellation instead of assuming that every canceled membership receives the same result.

If Amazon Does Not Offer the Expected Prime Refund

  • Provide the membership charge date and amount.
  • State when the membership or free trial was canceled.
  • Ask which Prime benefit Amazon considers used, if that affects the decision.
  • Request the refund amount, destination and expected processing date.
  • Ask for the decision in chat or email and save the case reference.
  • Confirm separately that future renewal has stopped.

Prime Video Charges, Add-On Subscriptions and Cancellations

Prime membership, a Prime Video-only plan, Prime Video add-ons, rentals, purchases and Prime Video Ad Free can produce separate charges. Canceling one does not always cancel the others. Start by identifying the exact item listed in Account & Settings or Memberships and Subscriptions.

Cancel a Prime Video Add-On Subscription

  1. Open Prime Video Account & Settings.
  2. Select Subscriptions.
  3. Find the add-on you want to cancel.
  4. Select Unsubscribe and confirm.
  5. Save the displayed end date.

Amazon’s add-on cancellation guidance says canceling does not create a refund for earlier subscription charges. If Apple bills the add-on, Amazon says cancellation must be completed at least 24 hours before renewal to avoid another charge.

Cancel a Prime Video-Only Subscription

Open Prime Video Account & Settings, select the account tab and choose the option to end the subscription. If another provider created the subscription, contact that provider. See the official Prime Video subscription cancellation page.

Cancel an Accidental Prime Video Purchase

Amazon says an accidental Prime Video rental or purchase may be canceled within 14 days if you have not tried to watch or download it. Open Purchases & Rentals, select the title and choose “Cancel Your Order” when available. Do not press play while checking eligibility. See Amazon’s accidental-purchase instructions.

Amazon Prime Benefits Not Working and Amazon Family

If a Prime benefit is missing, confirm that you are signed into the correct Amazon account, the membership is active, the payment succeeded and the item or service is eligible. A Prime Video-only plan does not provide every benefit included with a full Prime membership.

Amazon Family can share selected Prime benefits and digital content with another adult. Adding or removing an adult can affect shared benefits, content and payment-method access. Review Amazon’s current Prime benefit-sharing instructions before changing the family group.

Prime Delivery-Benefit Complaint

If the complaint is that a Prime-eligible order missed the delivery promise shown at checkout, save the checkout or order estimate and the actual tracking history. Contact Amazon through that order and state that the concern is the paid Prime benefit. For missing packages, replacements, ordinary merchandise returns and detailed delivery steps, use the main Amazon Customer Service page.

Amazon Prime Complaints and Escalation

Amazon Prime complaints are easier to review when they concern one membership, charge, subscription or benefit and request one specific outcome. Before contacting support, gather the charge date and amount, membership renewal date, cancellation confirmation, relevant screenshots, previous chat transcripts and any case numbers.

  1. Start with the exact membership or subscription. Use signed-in support so Amazon can see the relevant account context.
  2. State the requested resolution. Ask clearly for cancellation, a refund review, a corrected charge, restored benefit or written explanation.
  3. Separate related charges. Identify whether the issue is Prime membership, Prime Video-only, an add-on, an ad-free fee or a digital purchase.
  4. Document the contact. Save the date, support method, representative’s response, chat transcript and case reference.
  5. Ask for the appropriate specialist. Request a supervisor, membership specialist or payments specialist when the first representative cannot resolve it.
  6. Get the outcome in writing. Confirm the cancellation date, refund amount, refund destination and whether future renewal has stopped.
  7. Contact the payment provider when appropriate. Report a genuinely unauthorized charge promptly and follow the provider’s dispute deadline.

For Amazon ownership, headquarters, executive and corporate telephone information, see the Amazon Corporate Office Headquarters guide. Corporate contacts are not the normal first route for a Prime cancellation or refund.

Amazon Prime Customer Reviews and Complaint Sentiment

At the time of this update, Amazon Prime had a rating of 2.7 out of 5 stars on CustomerServiceNumbers.com based on 15 historical reviews. The visible reviews were primarily submitted in 2018 and commonly discuss unexpected Prime charges, questions about monthly billing, difficulty locating the correct support route, returns and delayed refunds.

This is an older and relatively small sample. It should not be treated as a current rating of every Prime membership or support interaction. Its value is in showing why customers sought help and whether a promised cancellation, refund or billing correction occurred.

What to Include in an Amazon Prime Review

  • Whether the issue involved membership, a free trial, Prime Video, an add-on or a Prime benefit
  • The approximate date and support method
  • The resolution requested
  • Whether Amazon provided a case or chat reference
  • Whether a cancellation or refund was confirmed
  • How long the response took and whether the promised action occurred

Before posting a review: Do not publish an account email, password, verification code, full order or tracking number, payment-card number, bank information, home address, gift-card claim code, government identification or private information about another person.

Amazon returned the order but fishy

August 10, 2018

Well, they returned the $12.99 the next day. But, reading all these comments of similar experiences shows something ‘fishy’ in the works with our debit/credit card accounts.

They charged me $12.99 and I never ordered anything from them since 2014

August 8, 2018

They charged me $12.99 and I never ordered anything from them since 2014. Very suspicious and not cool! We will see if I get my debit account refunded in full in “2 to 5 business days”. And why so difficult to contact by phone?!? If no, money then a phone call to the AG office! 🙁
