IEHP 24-Hour Nurse Advice Line
IEHP members can call the 24-Hour Nurse Advice Line at 1-888-244-4347, TTY 711.
The Nurse Advice Line can help members decide what level of care may be appropriate for non-emergency symptoms and can direct members to available care options.
IEHP Transportation
Transportation is available as a covered benefit for eligible active IEHP Medi-Cal and DualChoice members. The transportation benefit is not included with IEHP Covered plans.
As of May 16, 2026, IEHP arranges non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT), while Call the Car continues to provide non-medical transportation (NMT).
Members should call 1-800-440-4347 and choose the transportation prompt. IEHP states that transportation assistance through this route is available 24/7.
For routine appointments, IEHP asks members to request transportation at least five calendar days in advance when possible.
IEHP Prescription Help
Prescription support depends on the IEHP plan and medication involved.
For many IEHP Medi-Cal outpatient prescription-drug questions, California’s Medi-Cal Rx program administers the pharmacy benefit. Medi-Cal Rx can be reached at 1-800-977-2273.
IEHP DualChoice and IEHP Covered members should use their current plan formulary, pharmacy information and Member Services number for plan-specific prescription questions.
For a denied medication, prior authorization or formulary exception, review the notice from IEHP or the applicable pharmacy benefit administrator because appeal deadlines and procedures can be time-sensitive.
How to File an IEHP Grievance
A grievance is generally used when a member is dissatisfied with IEHP, a provider, access to service, customer service or another aspect of care that is not simply a request to overturn a coverage decision.
IEHP Medi-Cal members can begin by:
- Calling Member Services at 1-800-440-4347
- Submitting the official online grievance form
- Using the grievance forms available through IEHP Member Materials
- Submitting the complaint by mail or other method listed in current IEHP instructions
Members have the right to complain about their health plan, doctors or care without losing their benefits.
How to Appeal an IEHP Decision
An appeal generally asks IEHP to reconsider a decision involving coverage or benefits. The decision notice should explain what was denied, why it was denied, the deadline for appealing and whether expedited review may be available.
For Medi-Cal appeals, IEHP currently provides options that include:
- Calling Member Services at 1-800-440-4347
- Submitting an appeal through IEHP’s online process
- Faxing the Grievance and Appeals Department at 909-890-5748
- Mailing the appeal to IEHP at P.O. Box 1800, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91729-1800
DualChoice and IEHP Covered members should follow the appeal instructions for their specific plan because Medicare, Medi-Cal and Covered California appeals can have different procedures and deadlines.
Changing Your IEHP Doctor
IEHP members can use the online provider directory to locate participating doctors and facilities. Eligible members can also change their primary care provider through the Secure Member Portal or by calling Member Services.
Before scheduling care, verify that the provider currently participates in the specific IEHP plan shown on your Member ID card. Provider networks can differ between Medi-Cal, DualChoice and IEHP Covered.
IEHP Behavioral Health Support
IEHP members who need assistance finding covered mental or behavioral health services can contact Member Services for connection to the appropriate behavioral health resources.
For an emergency behavioral health condition, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department. The 24-Hour Nurse Advice Line is also available at 1-888-244-4347 for non-emergency guidance.
