McCormick Customer Service, Product Complaints and Returns

If a McCormick seasoning has hardened, its container is damaged, an ingredient raises an allergy concern, or an online order is missing or incorrect, use the support route that matches the transaction. Product-quality questions go to McCormick Consumer Affairs, while store refunds normally begin with the retailer that accepted payment.

McCormick Customer Service Contact Information

McCormick’s current help page lists telephone and text support Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Holiday schedules and representative availability may change.

Which McCormick Support Route Should You Use?

  • Clumped, hardened or unusable seasoning: Contact McCormick Consumer Affairs and retain the container and Best By information.
  • Broken cap, grinder or dispenser: Photograph the container and report the product and packaging problem to McCormick.
  • Unexpected taste, odor, color or texture: Stop using the product and contact McCormick with the package details.
  • Foreign material or possible contamination: Preserve the product safely and report it directly to McCormick.
  • Allergen or ingredient question: Read the current package and use McCormick’s product-support route for the exact item.
  • Store return or ordinary refund: Start with the retailer that accepted payment.
  • McCormick.com order: Use the separate online-order support information below.
  • Possible illness or allergic reaction: Seek appropriate medical assistance and report the product to McCormick and FDA.
  • Immediate medical emergency: Call 911.

What to Gather Before Contacting McCormick

  • The exact product and flavor
  • The package size
  • The Best By date
  • The UPC or barcode number
  • Any lot, manufacturing or production code
  • The purchase date and store
  • The receipt or online order confirmation
  • Photographs of the product and packaging
  • A description of the problem
  • The number of affected packages
  • Any earlier McCormick case number

Provide complete codes, receipts and personal contact information privately through McCormick’s official channels rather than in a public review.

How to Report a McCormick Product Complaint

  1. Stop using the product if it appears contaminated, damaged or unsafe.
  2. Keep the container, remaining product and receipt when it is safe to do so.
  3. Photograph the product, package, Best By date and UPC.
  4. Call or text 1-800-632-5847 or submit the official contact form.
  5. Describe the problem without guessing at its cause.
  6. Ask whether the product should be retained, discarded or sent for inspection.
  7. Do not mail food or packaging until McCormick supplies authorization and current instructions.
  8. Save the case number and any promised follow-up.

Submitting a complaint does not guarantee a coupon, refund, replacement, reimbursement or other specific outcome.

Clumped, Hardened or Solid Seasoning

Moisture, heat and storage conditions can affect dried herbs, spices, salts and seasoning blends. McCormick recommends keeping products tightly capped and away from heat, moisture and direct sunlight.

Avoid storing spices directly over a stove, dishwasher or sink. Do not shake a seasoning container over steaming food because steam can enter the opening and contribute to clumping.

If a product becomes solid or will not dispense:

  • Check the Best By date.
  • Inspect the cap, shaker opening or grinder.
  • Do not add water to the container.
  • Do not use an object that could break or contaminate the packaging.
  • Photograph the product and printed codes.
  • Contact McCormick if the product appears defective or became unusable under normal storage.

The live CustomerServiceNumbers.com page includes one 2016 review involving a Lemon Zest Sea Salt Blend that reportedly became solid and would not dispense. That single historical review does not establish a current company-wide pattern.

McCormick Best By Dates and Shelf Life

McCormick uses Best By dates to indicate the period during which it recommends using a product for its intended flavor and quality. A Best By date is not necessarily the same as an emergency food-safety expiration date.

McCormick says that a product without a Best By date is beyond its recommended shelf life. Approximate shelf life varies by product category and storage conditions.

For the most accurate guidance:

  • Follow the date and storage instructions on the exact package.
  • Keep the container tightly closed.
  • Store it away from moisture, direct sunlight and heat.
  • Discard a product that shows mold, insects, contamination, package damage or another safety concern.
  • Contact McCormick when the printed date or product condition is unclear.

McCormick Allergens and Ingredient Questions

McCormick states that it declares specified allergens and sensitivities in the ingredient statement and does not hide them under the general terms “spices” or “natural flavors.” These include:

  • Wheat
  • Milk and milk products
  • Peanuts
  • Tree nuts
  • Egg
  • Soy
  • Fish
  • Shellfish
  • Sesame in applicable U.S. products
  • Gluten-containing grains
  • MSG
  • Yellow Dye No. 5
  • Sulfites above the company’s stated threshold

Formulas can change, so read the ingredient statement on the package being purchased rather than relying on an old container, recipe website or online photograph.

If an ingredient statement does not appear on a single spice or herb, McCormick says the product is the ingredient identified in its name, such as black pepper. Contact McCormick about a specific allergy or sensitivity before using a product when the label does not answer the question.

McCormick Gluten-Free Claims

McCormick says that gluten sources are identified by their common names when present. Products displaying a Gluten Free claim have been validated along with the manufacturing line.

Do not assume that every McCormick product is gluten-free because another product from the brand carries that claim. Check the exact package and current online product information.

Foreign Material, Damaged Packaging or Suspected Contamination

Stop using a product that contains unexpected material, has a broken safety seal, leaks, smells abnormal, shows mold or insects, or appears to have been tampered with.

When safe:

  • Keep the product isolated from other food.
  • Retain the original packaging.
  • Photograph the condition and printed codes.
  • Do not remove or wash the suspected material.
  • Contact McCormick for handling instructions.

Do not mail food, glass containers, liquids or suspected foreign material to McCormick without authorization. The company may need to provide packaging and shipping instructions.

Illness or Allergic Reactions

McCormick customer service cannot diagnose symptoms or determine whether a product is medically safe for a particular person.

  • Call 911 for trouble breathing, loss of consciousness, severe swelling or another immediate emergency.
  • Contact a qualified healthcare professional about symptoms and treatment.
  • Retain the product and package when safe.
  • Report the incident directly to McCormick.
  • Consider submitting a report through FDA’s food-safety reporting process.

Do not post medical records, treatment details or personally identifying health information in the review section.

How to Report a McCormick Food-Safety Problem to FDA

Consumers may report a problem involving an FDA-regulated food through the FDA Safety Reporting Portal or a regional Consumer Complaint Coordinator.

FDA recommends providing a detailed product description, package codes, purchase location and date. Reporting to FDA does not replace contacting McCormick or obtaining medical care.

McCormick Recall Information

A recall may apply only to a particular product, package size, Best By date or lot code. Do not assume that every McCormick product is affected because an older or unrelated recall appears in a search result.

Check current notices through:

Match the exact product, size and printed codes. Follow the disposal, return or refund instructions in the applicable recall notice rather than using a general return process.

Products Purchased From Walmart or Another Retailer

McCormick products are sold by grocery stores, warehouse clubs, mass merchants, marketplaces and other independent retailers.

The retailer normally controls:

  • The sales receipt
  • The store return deadline
  • An ordinary preference-based refund
  • A price adjustment
  • A delivery or pickup problem
  • A marketplace-seller dispute

McCormick handles product questions and quality complaints. A retailer return request and a McCormick quality investigation are separate processes.

If the receipt is missing, ask the retailer whether it can locate the transaction or offer another remedy. McCormick may still review a product complaint, but it does not guarantee a replacement or coupon without proof of purchase.

McCormick.com Online Order Support

Orders placed directly through McCormick’s online shop use separate order-support channels from ordinary product inquiries.

  • Online-order questions: 1-800-292-3999
  • General online-order hours: Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Central Time
  • Order email: orders@shop.mccormick.com
  • Same-day cancellation or damaged-order number listed in the FAQ: 410-505-4573

Do not send payment-card details by email. Provide the order number, purchaser name, email address and a description of the issue.

Changing or Canceling a McCormick.com Order

McCormick says it cannot guarantee an order cancellation once warehouse processing begins. A cancellation request should be made on the same day the order was placed.

Before submitting an order, verify:

  • The products and quantities
  • The shipping address
  • The payment information
  • The promotional code
  • The expected shipping charge

If an order cannot be canceled, the customer may need to receive it and request an authorized return, subject to the refund policy.

McCormick.com Return and Refund Policy

McCormick’s current online refund policy says eligible returns must be handled within 30 days after the shipment is received.

The policy identifies CPGIO as the online-order shipper rather than the manufacturer. An authorized return must generally be new and unused and is inspected before a refund is issued.

  1. Contact online-order support before shipping anything.
  2. Request written authorization and current return instructions.
  3. Keep the order confirmation and photographs.
  4. Use the supplied return method.
  5. Retain the carrier tracking information.
  6. Wait for inspection and refund confirmation.

The current policy states that issuance of an approved refund may take five to seven business days after inspection. A financial institution may need additional time to post the credit.

Do not send a return to McCormick’s Hunt Valley headquarters.

Missing, Incorrect or Damaged Online Orders

For a damaged website order, keep the shipping box and product. McCormick’s online-order guidance asks for photographs of both the shipping carton and damaged merchandise.

For an incorrect item, provide the order number and a description or photograph of what arrived. The fulfillment company may authorize disposal, permit the customer to keep the product or supply a prepaid return label.

The current policy states that an order marked delivered with photographic proof is treated as fulfilled and may not qualify for a replacement or refund based solely on non-delivery. Customers should still check the address, delivery image, household members, neighbors and carrier information and report suspected theft to the appropriate parties.

2026 McCormick Seasoning Mix Guarantee

As of July 28, 2026, McCormick offers a limited satisfaction guarantee for specified seasoning mixes purchased from January 1 through November 30, 2026.

The offer:

  • Applies only to eligible products listed in the official terms
  • Is limited to legal U.S. residents
  • Provides a refund of up to $2.65
  • Requires the specified form and purchase documentation
  • Requires a timely postmark under the offer rules

Review the current McCormick Seasoning Mix Guarantee terms before submitting anything. This temporary offer is not a universal money-back guarantee for every McCormick item.

Discontinued or Hard-to-Find McCormick Products

A missing product may be discontinued, temporarily unavailable, renamed, packaged differently or sold only in certain regions.

Use McCormick’s official discontinued-product list and retailer locator:

Retailer inventory information is not a guarantee that an item will be in stock. Contact the store before making a special trip.

McCormick Promotion and Giveaway Scam Warning

McCormick warns that some websites and social-media accounts falsely claim to run McCormick promotional giveaways to collect money or personal information.

  • Verify promotions through McCormick-owned websites or accounts.
  • Do not pay a prize or delivery fee with gift cards or cryptocurrency.
  • Do not provide a password or one-time security code.
  • Do not install remote-access software for someone claiming to issue a refund.
  • Do not rely only on a logo, social-media name or caller ID.
  • Check the official rules before entering a promotion.

Report fraudulent advertisements or accounts to the platform and to McCormick through its official contact form.

How to Escalate a McCormick Complaint

  1. Identify whether the issue involves a retail purchase, McCormick.com order or product-quality concern.
  2. Call or text McCormick Consumer Affairs at 1-800-632-5847.
  3. Provide product codes and photographs privately.
  4. Ask for a case number.
  5. Save receipts, emails and written decisions.
  6. Contact the original retailer about its refund decision.
  7. Use online-order support when McCormick.com or its fulfillment partner shipped the order.
  8. Report a possible food-safety problem to FDA when appropriate.
  9. Contact the payment provider about an unresolved unauthorized transaction.

Escalation does not guarantee a refund, coupon, replacement, reimbursement or another requested outcome.

McCormick Corporate Office, Ownership and Leadership

The correct legal company name is McCormick & Company, Incorporated. McCormick is a publicly traded Maryland corporation and does not currently have a corporate parent.

McCormick & Company, Incorporated
24 Schilling Road, Suite 1
Hunt Valley, MD 21031

The headquarters is a corporate office. It is not identified as a public refund desk, product-return warehouse, food-inspection facility or guaranteed walk-in complaint location. Do not mail food, glass containers, liquids, receipts or original documents there without specific instructions.

Brendan M. Foley is McCormick’s chairman, president and CEO.

McCormick has announced a proposed combination with most of Unilever’s Foods business. As of July 28, 2026, that transaction remained pending and was expected to close in mid-2027. Unilever is therefore not McCormick’s current owner or parent company.

McCormick Foods Reviews and Complaints

The CustomerServiceNumbers.com rating section currently displays 3.0 out of 5 based on one submitted review.

The only visible review is dated February 3, 2016. It concerns a McCormick Lemon Zest Sea Salt Blend purchased at Walmart that reportedly became solid and could not be dispensed. The reviewer no longer had the receipt and requested a coupon or replacement.

This is one old product and packaging complaint. It does not support broad claims about current McCormick product quality, availability, refunds or customer service. No additional reviews or “Load more” option are visible.
