5/20/2012 On 4/28/12 I signed a contract with The Home Depot at the Store in Hammilton Mill rd. Ga. for small repairs on the exterior of the house, the sales person had knowledge of what he was doing and he said that someone wil be calling next week for the final procedures. Well 2 weeks went by and nothing, got hold of him and he got his boss to call me, his boss said that a person in charge from the store will be calling me the nex day. Well here is 5 days later and nothing. Folks, I don't think Arthur Blank gets to see these complaints, he built this place with CUSTOMER SERVICE and not pass the buck around. I will be contacting the salesman to cancel the contract and the credit card that we open to do this. Maybe Lowe's may have a better deal.

4/15/2012 Anotehr example of customer service being LAST. Also, I will kill two birds here as Lawn Boy apparently has the same No Customer service culture. Here is the story: I ran into multiple customer service problems with you store in Dunwoody GA (6400 Peachtree Dunwoody Road NE) re the purchase of a new Lawn Boy mower in 2008. The Lawnmower has been nothing but a problem with starting and have already taken it to the store once for repairs in 2009. Poor spark/ignition system is continuing issue with these mowers (never buy Tecumseh, go Briggs and Stratton), bad enough but the real problem was their customer service. As normal at the beginning of the cutting season I do the usual due diligence – replace oil, clean filter, sharpen the blade and put in a new plug. And, as per usual, I could not get it started last Saturday. I called HD store who said to call Lawn Boy, but they are closed on the weekend. Not a major deal, so waited to call them early Monday AM before I go to work. I also discovered that Lawn Boy offers ZERO customer assistance, only directing to an Auth. Dealer (they make more money this way). They don’t have one person who can give advise on starting the mower issues, amazing. I then called the Dunwoody HD store on 4-9 and asked for help. Here is what happened: I was put on hold and then transferred to someone in Lawn and Garden. He said he could not help, would have “Rob” call me back by the end of the day. Rob did not call back, so I called to store and finally got Rob (btw he never got the message to call me earlier, or did not mention it). Rob said that he could not help me, that I should talk to Manny in the rental area as he is most familiar with Lawn Boy problems. I was transferred, left message but Manny never called back. I called the store next day and then asked to speak to the store manager (Jerry McVay) to tell him of the problems. I thought that the manager would at least look into it. However, he also has not called back, and that was a week ago now. HD has put Cust. Service on hold, as I was here, because there is only one competitor in this oligarchial market. It is this competitor which I will soon be going to as they are only 1/2 mile away (Lowes).

4/9/2012 Can someone at the corporate level clearly define the 10% discount given to veterans? This program was initiated by Home Depot but the employees all have different views of the policy. I have used my photo vet ID numerous times but there are occasions when I am denied. It almost seems that corporate office keeps changing the rules and it is confusing to both the vet customers and the HD employees. Both Lowes and Pep Boys give 10% discounts to vets without question. As a veteran,I appreciate the discount as I spend a considerable amount of money at Home Depot. I would appreciate it if corporate would take a stand and clearly communicate to their stores what the 10% policy to veterans is and if it still exists! Thank you for your time and consideration.

2/23/2012 I purchased a GE refrigerator at the FC, CA store. I completely understand the push to purchase a service agreement, they sell a defective product. I have been told they get the seconds, it is only something I have heard, can't prove. After six months I had the first service call, a new motheboard was needed. The repair man told me if I had purchased the refrigerator anywhere but Home Depot it would have been replaced, but HD will never do that. After a little over two years, I have had two floods because of the ice maker. It has been replaced and I am not waiting for the third one to arrive so it can be installed. I have lost count of how many servie calls I have had. A service call means I have to stay home for four hours or until the repair person arrives. I have had to stay home three days in the past two weeks waiting for a repair person. Yesterday the serviceman called Tech Support about the icemaker not stopping making ice and was told to tell me to manually turn it off and on! This is not an option. HD Consumer Affairs in Texas said they would not replace the refrigerator, just call for service when anything goes wrong! So many people had said don't buy at HD, now I know why. I'll never go there again. In fact I made a $800 purchase a month ago and went to Orchard Supply, it is only a block away so not a hardship to stop going to HD.

2/9/2012 On Feb 5, 2012 I bought an England pellet stove and 2pcs of plywood at the Seebrook NH store by check. They took the money out of checking account instantly. . When I got home I checked the receipt and noticed they charged me for 17 pcs instead of 2 pcs of plywood. Living 100 miles away from Seebrook I called the store manager, Matt, and he told me he would refund the overage right away as he saw the mistake on the stores copy of receipt. Now, I called yesterday in regards to check and another store manager Melissa tells me I will get check in about 1 1/2 weeks. It seems funny they can take your money instantly with all the computer technology why couldn't they put the money back into my checking account. They have all the numbers from my check. Also with the pellet stove I found that 2 major parts were missing and the blower on stove did not work. I called manufacturer of stove and they informed me that the stove they sold to me was defective and was suppose to be returned to manufacturer. I all I got was the run around. Now I am sitting here waiting for the parts of the stove to be sent to me from manufacturer. I will not buy from Home Depot in future. Lowes is the best

1/23/2012 I work for Home Depot as a cashier. I would like to state that the customer complaints here are very valid, and I understand the frustration you must feel dealing with HD for just a few hours out of the day. I work there part time (which means anywhere from 0 to 23 hours a week) and I'm frustrated 24/7. First of all there's a blatant favoritism shown to females who are 'pretty' and 'personable' and like to suck up to the management. These people will get hired and get whatever position they want within weeks of being brought to the floor (hence why some of you have no help from associates because they are not knowledgeable, they are just suck ups), while others (aka me) will work for the store for 2 years for piss-poor pay, at piss poor hours, and beg to be transferred to another department, with the needed skills and knowledge to be a valued asset over there and get laughed at. I've been run around in circles by Home Depot for the past 2 years of my 'career' with them, and I'm sick of it. You think your experience with this company is bad? Just have a chat with an employee, and you'll get the real story. Our management teams are filled with people who don't understand the meaning of 'customer service' or 'employee relations' for that matter. I can't tell you the number of times I've come to work and been talked down to by a member of management with such a tone that I end up crying for the rest of my shift. I've put a few suggestions in my stores suggestion box anonymously of course, but somehow they always manage to hunt me down and tell my my opinions are liable to get me fired. Upon getting hired at HD we are all told that they have an 'open door policy' meaning any concerns about fellow employees or unsafe practices may be brought up without hesitation or reprimand to a member of management. This is a blatant LIE. We were told that the company's most important values are it's inverted pyramid and it's value wheel. The inverted pyramid's chain goes customers (1st) - hourly employees (2nd) - distribution teams (3rd) - management (4th) - corporate (last). Clearly our motto is 'we put customers first' but I believe it is just as important to put employees second! At the end of the day when all the customers leave, who is supposed to be more important? The ASM who sits behind a desk, or the cashier who patiently checks out even the RUDEST AND MOST DISGUSTING of people with a SMILE on their face? I understand all of the customer complaints on here more than ANYONE. And I'd just like to say this, if you have a problem with this company, you have to wonder how they treat their employees. Who else are they lying to? It's hard to give excellent customer service when you don't know where your next meal will come from, or if your sickness will get you fired. I apologize for all of the terrible service, and I apologize for my rant, but I wanted everyone to know that I feel your pain, because I shop at Home Depot, and I work there too, so I've got 2x the insight into why things can be so bad.

1/13/2012 Had complete new bath installed after plumbing contractor was done he advised us not to use shower stall to wait adout 10 days then seal all the grout if he had his men come back to do it would cost about $250.00 extra because be there about 1/2 day, but its easy you can do it, I pick up sealer from lowes then saw on youtube a seal bottle to put it on with so I went to home depot and pick up the seal roller bottle. a few days latter I was at home depot and went to tile dept and talked to a sales men for help about sealing tile,He told me to use this `TILElal grout& tile sealer` I pick up 2 it worked great easy on, easy clean up so next day take unopen sealer back to lowes to return with receipt and get gift card for the amount of sealer next I go to home depot with unused bottle and receipt[ date 12/26/2011 on receipt]I can not get refund unless I show my driver license . I SAID NO WAY Today with all the IDs being stolen people do not like to show driver licence with numbers and birthbays on them!not a good rule [usa can not keep pentagon plans safe] I was not asking for cash.LOWES I like will be telling grandkids lowes cards for me only no more home depot.

12/28/2011 my boyfriend went to have a key made at home depot and the girl who was cutting the keys put his key in where the copy should of been and cut his key. Then made him a key. He came home to get his car and the keys wouldn't work. He went back to home depot to make them have a locksmith come out and make us a new key but they said we had to pay out of pocket then turn it into home depot as an insurance claim. Well we don't have any extra money to do that so now what do we do? this is insane she even said she made a mistake......

12/27/2011 It's a shame that stores use the "Holiday Season" to make most of their profits but do not recognize Christmas. I understand that you don't want to offend anybody (4% or 5%) but offend the other (95% or 96%. Until I see a Merry Christmas sign displayed in a prominent place, I will not buy anything at Home Depot. Tash
