Q Link Wireless Service Status, Lifeline Help and Complaints

Q Link Wireless no longer provides Lifeline service, and former Q Link telephone numbers, account pages and support instructions should not be treated as current. The Federal Communications Commission permanently debarred Q Link from the Lifeline program and other FCC-administered programs.

Former customers should identify the wireless company currently associated with their telephone number or Lifeline benefit. That company—not Q Link—will generally be responsible for current service, SIM cards, devices, billing, number transfers and account support.

Q Link service-status update: No current Q Link consumer-support channel could be verified. Older Q Link telephone numbers, operating hours, login pages and enrollment links have therefore been removed from this page. Use your current carrier, the Lifeline Support Center or the FCC according to the issue involved.

What Happened to Q Link Wireless?

Q Link Wireless previously supplied federally subsidized telephone service through the Lifeline program. It is no longer a participating Lifeline provider.

The U.S. Department of Justice reported that Q Link and its owner pleaded guilty in October 2024 to conspiring to commit wire fraud, steal government funds and defraud the United States in connection with the Lifeline program. The Justice Department subsequently announced a financial resolution and stated that Q Link agreed not to participate in programs administered by the FCC.

The FCC issued a permanent debarment notice in December 2025. That notice prohibits Q Link from participating in Lifeline, federal universal-service support mechanisms and other FCC-administered programs.

Official case information is available from:

These government proceedings do not create a new Q Link consumer-support department. The Justice Department’s announcement also does not identify one carrier as the successor for every former Q Link customer.

Which Company Has My Former Q Link Account?

Check the following sources before contacting another wireless company:

  • The carrier name displayed on your phone
  • The name or logo on your current SIM card or SIM packaging
  • Welcome or transition emails and text messages
  • Recent service, activation or account notices
  • The provider named in your Lifeline records
  • A recent bank or card statement if you purchased additional service

Some former customers may have records identifying StandUp Wireless or another Lifeline provider. Do not assume that a company holds your account solely because other former Q Link customers were transferred there.

If your records identify StandUp Wireless, use the StandUp Wireless customer service guide. If they identify SafeLink, use the SafeLink Wireless customer service guide.

The current provider should be the first contact for:

  • Nonworking telephone service
  • SIM-card activation or replacement
  • Missing minutes, texts or data
  • Device compatibility
  • Additional data or service purchases
  • Account PINs and number transfers
  • Current billing or payment problems

How to Transfer a Lifeline Benefit

USAC states that consumers may transfer their Lifeline benefit to another company. Begin by selecting a participating provider and asking that provider to complete the transfer.

Use the official Companies Near Me tool to search by ZIP code, city or state. Confirm directly with the company that it offers Lifeline at your address.

The new provider may request:

  • Your full legal name
  • Date of birth
  • Home address
  • Telephone number
  • The last four digits of your Social Security number or Tribal identification number
  • Your consent to transfer the benefit

You may need to reapply or confirm your eligibility before the transfer can be completed. Review USAC’s current Lifeline company-transfer instructions before submitting personal information.

Only provide eligibility and identity information through USAC or a verified participating provider. Do not post it in a public review.

Q Link Number-Porting Problems

A new wireless provider may be able to transfer, or port, a former Q Link telephone number. The number normally must still be available for transfer, and the receiving provider may need identifying account information.

Before beginning:

  • Do not cancel working service before asking the new provider about the transfer.
  • Tell the new provider that you want to keep your existing telephone number.
  • Provide the name, address, account number, transfer PIN and ZIP code associated with the old account when available.
  • Ask for a port-request or support-case number.
  • Save screenshots of errors and copies of carrier responses.

If the new provider says that the number cannot be transferred, ask for the specific rejection reason. Incorrect account information, an inactive number or a mismatch between customer records can prevent a transfer.

For an unresolved number-porting dispute, submit a telephone complaint through the FCC Consumer Complaint Center and select the number-portability issue.

Number-security warning: A telephone number can be connected to bank, email, healthcare and social-media accounts. If you permanently lose access to a former Q Link number, update important accounts promptly and use stronger authentication methods where available.

Q Link Phones, SIM Cards and Device Unlocking

A phone previously used with Q Link may or may not be compatible with a new provider. Compatibility depends on the device, supported network bands, lock status and the new carrier’s requirements.

Ask the prospective provider to check the phone’s IMEI before purchasing a plan or SIM card. Do not publish the IMEI, SIM number or electronic serial number in a public comment.

If a provider refuses an eligible unlocking request or does not resolve a device-unlocking complaint, the FCC accepts telephone-equipment complaints through its Consumer Complaint Center.

Q Link Free Phone and Tablet Claims

Lifeline and the Affordable Connectivity Program were separate programs. The Affordable Connectivity Program ended on June 1, 2024, while Lifeline continues.

Offers that still advertise new ACP enrollment, ACP monthly discounts or ACP-funded tablets are outdated or potentially misleading. The FCC has published a consumer warning about websites advertising ACP after the program ended.

A current Lifeline provider may have its own device promotion, but Lifeline approval does not automatically guarantee a free phone or tablet. Confirm the current device price, activation charge, shipping fee, plan allowance and replacement policy before enrolling.

Fraud warning: Be cautious of anyone promising to reactivate Q Link service or provide an ACP benefit. Do not pay by gift card, cryptocurrency or wire transfer, and never disclose a password, verification code, full Social Security number or financial information to an unsolicited caller.

Old Q Link Charges and Refund Requests

If an old or unexpected Q Link-related charge appears on a statement:

  1. Record the transaction date, amount and exact billing description.
  2. Review previous device, data or service purchases.
  3. Determine whether the charge was processed by Q Link, another carrier or a payment service.
  4. Contact the bank or card issuer promptly if the transaction was unauthorized.
  5. Save statements, receipts, emails and previous complaint records.

The Justice Department’s financial resolution involved payments and restitution connected to the government proceedings. Its announcement does not describe a general consumer-refund application. Do not pay an individual or website promising access to Q Link settlement money.

How to Escalate a Former Q Link Complaint

  1. Identify the current provider. Check your phone, SIM, transition messages and Lifeline records.
  2. Open a provider support case. Explain the service, SIM, billing or number-transfer problem and request a reference number.
  3. Use the Lifeline Support Center. Call 1-800-234-9473 for application, eligibility, recertification, benefit-status or provider questions.
  4. Submit an FCC complaint. Use the FCC Consumer Complaint Center for an unresolved provider, service, billing, number-porting or unlocking issue.
  5. Report suspected Lifeline fraud. Call the FCC Lifeline Fraud Tip Line at 1-855-455-8477.

For a billing or service complaint, the FCC recommends contacting the current provider first. The FCC may serve an eligible complaint on the provider and require a written response.

Information to Have Ready

  • Your current telephone number
  • The carrier name displayed on the device
  • The current SIM provider
  • Your Lifeline application number, when relevant
  • Dates of service interruptions or transfer requests
  • Error messages and screenshots
  • Provider support-case numbers
  • The reason given for a failed number transfer
  • Billing dates and amounts
  • The specific resolution requested

Protect full Social Security numbers, benefit documents, account PINs, passwords, verification codes, SIM numbers and IMEI numbers. Supply them only through an official, secure support route when required.
