Schlage is a lock and access-control brand owned by Allegion. Its residential products include mechanical deadbolts, door knobs, levers, handlesets, keypad locks, and smart locks such as Schlage Encode, Encode Plus, Encode Lever, Arrive, Sense Pro, and Connect. Customers may need help with installation, programming, access codes, the Schlage Home app, batteries, warranty claims, direct online purchases, returns, or a lock that is not operating correctly.

For Schlage residential customer service in the United States, call 1-888-805-9837. Current support hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Residential customers can also email consumerschlage@allegion.com or use Schlage’s online Customer Care form.

Schlage Customer Service

How to Contact Schlage Customer Service

Residential homeowners should normally start with Schlage Residential Support at 1-888-805-9837 or consumerschlage@allegion.com.

Schlage also provides an online Customer Care form, FAQs, manuals, installation guides, programming instructions, and video tutorials. These self-service resources can be useful when you know the model of the lock and the exact problem.

Schlage Commercial has a separate support team at 1-877-671-7011. That route is intended for products installed in commercial, institutional, retail, healthcare, and similar applications.

What to Have Ready Before Contacting Schlage

  • The exact Schlage model or product family
  • Product number or model number when available
  • Purchase date
  • Store, website, builder, locksmith, or installer that supplied the product
  • Proof of purchase for warranty questions
  • A description of the installation or operating problem
  • Any error message shown in the Schlage Home app
  • Whether the problem involves the mechanical lock, electronics, app, Wi-Fi, Matter, Z-Wave, or another smart-home integration
  • Photos or video showing a mechanical or installation problem when useful
  • Previous Schlage support case information
Protect your home security. Do not publish or send unnecessary copies of programming codes, active access codes, app passwords, Wi-Fi passwords, one-time security codes, or screenshots showing usable entry codes. If Schlage needs sensitive information for troubleshooting, provide it only through a verified official support channel.

Schlage Smart Lock Support

Schlage currently supports several residential smart-lock families, including Encode, Encode Plus, Encode Lever, Arrive, Sense Pro, and Connect.

Depending on the model, support may involve:

  • Lock installation
  • Programming access codes
  • Adding or removing users
  • Schlage Home app setup
  • Wi-Fi connection problems
  • Matter or Thread setup
  • Z-Wave pairing
  • Apple Home integration
  • Alexa, Google, Ring, or other supported integrations
  • Low-battery warnings
  • Remote locking or unlocking
  • Lock history and notifications
  • Factory-reset procedures

Use the manual for your exact lock before performing a factory reset. A reset can remove programming, access codes, network connections, and smart-home settings.

Schlage Home App Problems

If the Schlage Home app is not connecting to a lock, gather the lock model, phone type, mobile operating-system version, app version, and exact error message before contacting support.

Basic troubleshooting may include checking:

  • Whether the lock has adequate battery power
  • Whether Bluetooth is enabled when required
  • Whether the phone has the required permissions
  • Whether Wi-Fi service is working for models that use Wi-Fi
  • Whether the lock is already associated with another account
  • Whether a firmware or app update is available
  • Whether the smart-home platform involved is currently connected

Do not delete the lock, remove your account, or perform a factory reset until you understand what settings or access codes will be lost.

Schlage Battery and Lockout Problems

Low batteries can cause delayed responses, communication failures, keypad problems, or loss of smart features. Replace batteries according to the instructions for the exact model and use the battery type specified by Schlage.

Current Schlage electronic locks provide backup-access options depending on the model, such as a physical key or temporary-power capability.

If a malfunction leaves an exterior door unable to lock securely, prioritize the security of the property. Use another secure entry point, a physical key or alternate lock when available, and contact Schlage or a qualified locksmith rather than leaving the property unsecured.

Schlage Installation and Programming Help

Schlage provides manuals, how-to instructions, FAQs, and installation videos through its official Support Center.

Before assuming a lock is defective, check:

  • Door thickness and preparation
  • Backset
  • Bolt alignment
  • Strike alignment
  • Whether the bolt moves freely with the door open
  • Whether screws are overtightened
  • Whether inside and outside assemblies are oriented correctly
  • Whether cables are connected correctly on electronic models
  • Whether the lock was programmed using instructions for the exact model

If an older Schlage lock no longer has its original paperwork, search Schlage’s current manuals and guides using the model or product information before replacing the hardware.

Schlage Warranty

Warranty coverage depends on the exact Schlage product and application. Current residential Schlage warranty materials provide limited lifetime mechanical and finish coverage for many residential products.

Current Schlage residential smart locks generally include:

  • Mechanical and finish: Limited lifetime warranty
  • Electronics: Limited three-year warranty

The warranty generally applies to the original qualifying residential consumer and is subject to the written terms for the specific product.

Current warranty exclusions can include normal wear, labor for removal or reinstallation, shipping expenses, improper installation, misuse, abuse, alterations, incorrect parts, unsuitable environmental conditions, unauthorized-seller purchases where permitted by law, and damage caused by third-party systems or services.

Before Making a Schlage Warranty Claim

  • Find the exact model.
  • Locate your proof of purchase.
  • Confirm that the seller was an authorized seller when required.
  • Photograph the product and defect.
  • Record troubleshooting already completed.
  • Contact Schlage before mailing the lock.
Do not mail a lock without instructions. Schlage’s warranty materials publish a Customer Service address in Olathe, Kansas, but the correct return or inspection procedure can depend on the claim. Contact Schlage at 1-888-805-9837 or consumerschlage@allegion.com before shipping warranty merchandise.

Schlage.com Returns and Refunds

Schlage has a separate return policy for products purchased directly through Schlage.com.

Except for items designated non-returnable, Schlage currently allows a direct-purchase return request within 90 days after shipment.

To qualify under the current direct-purchase return policy, products must generally be in original condition with the original packaging and documentation and must not be modified or show wear.

To start a Schlage.com return, email schlage.resorders@allegion.com using the email address associated with the order and include the lock’s UPC code.

Schlage states that no direct-purchase return will be accepted without the shipping label it provides. Original shipping and handling charges are not refunded under the standard policy.

Schlage currently says refunds are processed approximately 15 days after it receives the qualifying return and are credited to the original payment method.

Schlage Products Purchased From a Retailer

If you bought the lock from Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Menards, Amazon, a local locksmith, a builder, or another retailer, distinguish between a retailer return and a Schlage manufacturer warranty claim.

A retailer may control:

  • Ordinary returns
  • Exchanges
  • Refund timing
  • Order cancellations
  • Missing shipments
  • Store pickup problems

Schlage generally handles product support and qualifying manufacturer-warranty issues.

Schlage Product Registration

Schlage provides online product registration through its Support Center. Registration can help associate your purchase with product information and updates.

Keep your receipt even after registering because proof of purchase may still be required for a warranty claim.

Schlage Security and Smart Lock Privacy

A smart lock protects physical access to a home, so troubleshooting information should be handled more carefully than ordinary product information.

Do not publicly share:

  • Programming codes
  • Active entry codes
  • Temporary guest codes
  • Schlage Home credentials
  • Wi-Fi passwords
  • One-time authentication codes
  • Screenshots showing usable codes
  • Detailed instructions showing exactly how your own home is secured

Schlage states that its current smart locks use encryption and secure connectivity and receive software or firmware updates intended to support digital security.

If you believe a vulnerability involves Schlage technology rather than an ordinary support issue, use the official vulnerability-disclosure resource linked from Schlage’s website rather than posting exploit details publicly.

How to Escalate a Schlage Complaint

  1. Start with residential or commercial support. Use the support route that matches the installation.
  2. Document the product. Keep the model, purchase date, receipt, photos, and troubleshooting history.
  3. Ask for a case or reference number. Use the same case when following up.
  4. Clarify the requested solution. State whether you need installation help, replacement, warranty review, refund, direct-order assistance, or another resolution.
  5. If the purchase was from a retailer, determine whether the issue belongs with the retailer or Schlage.
  6. For a warranty denial, ask which warranty condition or exclusion applies.
  7. For unresolved direct Schlage.com purchase disputes, review the current Terms of Purchase. Those terms contain formal dispute-resolution provisions and a legal-notice address.

Schlage Corporate and Legal Contact Information

Schlage is an Allegion company. Current corporate and SEC materials continue to use:

Schlage Lock Company, LLC
11819 N. Pennsylvania Street
Carmel, IN 46032

This address is also used for formal legal notices in Schlage’s current U.S. online-purchase terms. It should not be assumed to be a product-return warehouse.

For ordinary residential support, use 1-888-805-9837 instead.

Schlage Customer Service Reviews on CustomerServiceNumbers.com

CustomerServiceNumbers.com currently displays a Schlage rating of 3.0 out of 5 stars based on 2 customer reviews.

Both reviews were submitted in 2018, so they should be considered historical rather than representative of current Schlage support.

One reviewer asked for installation instructions for an older Schlage front-door lock after removing the hardware while painting a door. The other reviewer reported difficulty reaching telephone customer service and said several questions remained unanswered after approximately three days.

With only two older reviews, there is not enough CSN feedback to establish reliable current trends involving Schlage product quality, smart-lock performance, warranty service, installation support, or customer-service responsiveness.
