My "free" trial was a complete disaster! Tried to ask for directions and all I got was beeps! Called the next day to see what the problem was and all I got was beeps! Rep was courteous but apparently had no idea what was going on and was not able to help at all. Good thing was I was NOT in an emergency! Id have bled to death before they got me hooked up. I cancelled remainder of free service. Dont need that frustration.

Kirby Murphy: I just received an email my minutes were expiring.
Regina W.: Our record indicates that the Hands Free Calling Minutes expire 12/3/2014.
Kirby Murphy: I was told they were good as long as I had a Contract.
Regina W.: The Hands Free Calling is a pre-paid service, the units are only available for six to twelve months.
Regina W.: I am sorry for the confusion.
Regina W.: Another download of units is required to change the expiration date on previous units inside the vehicle. All units will then have the current expiration date which is 12 months from the date of purchase. The OnStar Hands-Free calling services are prepaid and is a separate feature from the OnStar service plan. The Hands-Free calling minutes have a separate expiration date from the OnStar subscription package.
Kirby Murphy: That is not what I was told, if I had know that I would not have done a three year Contract. There was no Confusion, I asked the Rep.

11/4/2014 I just want to say thank you to OnStar for calling
I just want to say thank you to OnStar for calling the police when my husband and I were driving one afternoon. My husband stopped a man from attacking a teenage girl in our neighborhood, but before he got out of the car, he pushed the OnStar button and I was able to stay in the car and relay what was happening. OnStar transferred me to our local police station and they were able to come to our location in a matter of minutes! Thank you OnStar!

9/15/2014 OnStar - I bought a Nissan and it took two months to get
I bought a Nissan and it took two months to get the onstar working in my car. They kept saying that it was some kind of technical problem. When they finally did get it working, i have had nothing but problems. There is a lot of road construction in my area, and Onstar continuously gives the wrong directions when i call for directions. It appears that their maps are not updated when road construction is in progress. I have also been given the wrong directions in areas that do not have road construction. The last seven times that I have used the service, I have been given the wrong directions. .About three weeks ago, I called to get directions, and they said they could not get a signal. Technical support worked on this approximately fifteen minutes. After they were finished, I was assured that this would not happen again. The very next time I asked for directions, the same thing happened again and has happened twice since then. I am very frustrated with Onstar. It is definitely not worth what it costs. Another problem i have had several times is that when I call Onstar, it takes at least one minute for them to answer and after they answer, it takes a while for the directions to be downloaded to the car. Yesterday, once again, I called for directions, and they told me to take exit 15B. The correct exit was 15C. Luckily for me, I already knew which was the correct exit. If I had followed onstar's directions, I would have went in the opposite direction of where I needed to go. I have tried to be patient and give Onstar the benefit of the doubt, but I don't feel that I am getting what I am paying for, so once again, I am canceling the service. I have Google maps on my cell phone which I have used several times after getting incorrect directions from onstar, and Google is always correct, even with all the road construction, so from this day forward, I will use Google. It is much better service and the best thing is that it is free on my phone.

9/5/2014 At first ONSTAR was great but over the last year
At first ONSTAR was great but over the last year we have had more problems!!! when we push the onstar button we are being connected to a representative, all we get are several beeps, no one comes on, so we start again, after the person says the are sending directions to our car we hear several beeps and never get directions, So we START AGAIN!! it is very frustrating paying for something that really only works SOMETIMES. SERIOUSLY thinking of doing away with it. After reading "RAYS" comment from 12/24/12 are we really only getting a false sense of security?

in the world did you even print most of these comments. Obviously the people trying to make a call do not realize that they are talking to a computer and don't know how to talk themselves to be understood. Background noise in the car is probably the dumbest reason for not connnecting and yelling at a low resolution mike is another. On Star is a wonderful service even if just for the bluetooth connection. Mine is broken though and I am having trouble where we live trying to get it fixed. We are going to the next city from us and maybe they can handle it. Even when the system is broken you can still talk to somebody if you read the instructions.
