Andersen Windows Customer Service, Warranty and Reviews

Andersen Windows & Doors manufactures windows, patio doors, entry doors, storm doors, screens, hardware and replacement parts. Customers may need assistance with product identification, warranty coverage, broken components, replacement parts, installation concerns, dealer orders or an installed window or door that needs service.

What to Have Ready Before Calling Andersen

Product identification is especially important because warranty coverage, replacement components and service instructions can vary by series, manufacturing date and product configuration.

  • Product ID or glass-logo information
  • Window, patio-door or storm-door series
  • Approximate purchase and installation dates
  • Dealer, retailer or contractor name
  • Receipt, invoice, order confirmation or installation agreement
  • Warranty registration or previous claim information
  • Photographs of damage, missing components or installation concerns
  • Measurements when Andersen requests them
  • Dates, representative names and case numbers from earlier contacts
  • A concise description of the requested repair, replacement or other resolution

Products manufactured from 2007 forward commonly have a Product ID label. Its location varies by product, but it may be found near the top of an open window frame, on a door frame or in information etched near the glass logo. Andersen’s Identify Your Product tool can help locate the correct information.

Protect private claim informationDo not publish complete product serial numbers, order numbers, receipts, claim numbers, home addresses, telephone numbers or email addresses in a public review. Give those details only to Andersen, the selling retailer or the authorized service provider through a verified support channel.

Andersen Warranty Claims

Warranty terms depend on the product line, components, manufacturing date, installation and warranty document that applies to the product. Andersen’s current FAQ states that non-coastal product warranties generally provide 20 years of coverage for standard glass and 10 years for non-glass components. Coastal products and certain specialized products may have different terms.

Andersen also says installations performed by an Andersen Certified Contractor have a separate two-year installation warranty. That installation coverage is different from the manufacturer’s product warranty.

Customers should review the applicable document on Andersen’s official warranty page before assuming that a repair, replacement part, labor charge or service visit is covered.

How to Start a Warranty Claim

  1. Identify the Andersen product and series.
  2. Locate the receipt, installation date and product information.
  3. Photograph the reported defect or failed component.
  4. Review the warranty document for that product and manufacturing period.
  5. Contact the Andersen Certified Contractor who installed the product or call Andersen at 1-888-888-7020.
  6. Ask for a case or claim number and record any documentation Andersen requests.
  7. Confirm whether parts, labor, shipping and service visits are covered separately.

A transferable warranty does not mean every part and labor expense is covered for the same period. The written warranty controls the actual claim.

Dealer, Delivery and Installation Problems

Andersen products are sold through independent dealers and retailers, including Home Depot. Responsibility can depend on which organization accepted the order and performed the installation.

  • Incorrect size, color or quantity: Contact the selling dealer or retailer first. Andersen’s FAQ directs customers with incorrectly supplied windows or doors back to the dealer or Home Depot store where the products were purchased.
  • Delivery date or delayed order: Ask the selling location for the current estimated delivery date and written order status.
  • Manufacturing defect: Contact Andersen and provide the product information, purchase record and photographs.
  • Installation damage or workmanship: Contact the contractor responsible for the installation and review the labor warranty or service agreement.
  • Missing or incorrect replacement part: Retain the packaging, part number and shipping records before contacting the Parts Store or product support.

Customers who purchased through a major home-improvement retailer can also review the CSN pages for Home Depot customer service and Lowe’s customer service.

How to Escalate an Andersen Complaint

  1. Identify the responsible company. Determine whether the issue concerns the Andersen product, dealer order, retailer delivery, contractor installation, storm door or Renewal by Andersen project.
  2. Document the problem. Save receipts, photographs, product information, delivery paperwork, installation agreements and earlier correspondence.
  3. Use the appropriate support number. Calling the wrong Andersen division can cause unnecessary transfers and delays.
  4. Request a case number. Keep the number with the date, representative’s name and promised next action.
  5. Ask for a clear resolution. State whether you are requesting inspection, missing parts, repair, replacement, reimbursement or a written coverage decision.
  6. Request supervisor review. If the first representative cannot resolve the matter, ask for escalation and a written explanation of the next step.
  7. Follow up in writing. Use Andersen’s official contact form so there is a dated record of the complaint.
  8. Use corporate contact only when appropriate. Unresolved matters may be summarized in writing to Andersen Corporation, 100 4th Avenue North, Bayport, MN 55003. Do not send original receipts or irreplaceable documents.

Andersen Windows vs. Renewal by Andersen

Andersen Windows & Doors sells products through dealers, retailers and contractors. Renewal by Andersen is Andersen Corporation’s full-service replacement-window division. Renewal by Andersen generally manages the consultation, product, installation and service process through its own network.

If a contract, invoice, installation vehicle or warranty document says Renewal by Andersen, call 1-800-441-1109. Andersen provides a detailed comparison of Andersen Windows and Renewal by Andersen.

Window and Door Safety

A window, patio door or storm door with broken glass, failed locks, damaged balances, broken sash components or defective operating hardware may present a safety risk. Avoid forcing a jammed product or attempting a repair that requires handling heavy glass without the proper instructions and equipment.

Andersen advises repairing broken sash locks, balances and operating components promptly. It also warns that insect screens are designed for ventilation and insect control, not fall prevention. Review Andersen’s window and door safety guidance for fall prevention, emergency egress, broken-glass handling and maintenance information.

Andersen Windows Reviews and Complaints

CustomerServiceNumbers.com currently displays a rating of 3.0 out of 5 based on seven reviews. The visible reviews were submitted between July 2014 and August 2016, so they represent a small and older sample rather than a current companywide measure of Andersen service.

One reviewer described a helpful representative who patiently identified the correct replacement part for a broken sliding-door lock. Other reviewers reported order errors, delayed technician contact, missing parts, failed window seals, broken sash components, patio-door hardware problems, unavailable storm-door parts, frame damage and concerns about product construction.

Every visible review currently displays three stars even though the written experiences vary substantially. Readers should consider the review text, age and specific product involved instead of relying only on the displayed average.

Repeated Order Errors and Missing Window Parts

August 23, 2016

Anderson Windows, In March, I ordered five A-Series triple-glazed windows from Andersen to complete the restoration and upgrades to my early-1900s house. By May, I had removed three of the old windows and covered the openings with plywood in anticipation of the new windows arriving. I was then informed that my order had been rewritten three times and that each time this happened, it was placed at the bottom of the factory’s order list. When the windows finally arrived, the color was incorrect, the quantities were wrong, and one window was clearly the wrong size and may have belonged to another order. The order had to be placed again, resulting in another lengthy wait. The next delivery included four windows in the correct sizes and color. However, it was already July—hot, humid, and full of insects—which was exactly what I had hoped to avoid by ordering early. The large picture window was scheduled to arrive later. When the picture window arrived, the nailing fin was not designed to accommodate the snap-on exterior trim, and the prairie-style grille was missing. A factory representative told me that an area technician would install the grille. I asked for the attachment strips to be shipped directly so I could continue installing the clapboards, but I was told the technician would bring and install them. It is now August 22, and I still have not heard from the technician. I was originally told that he would arrive on August 22 to install the missing parts, but I was later told only that he would call. That call has not happened. I feel that my only remaining option is to write to the CEO because the customer service has been extremely disappointing. This is unfortunate because the windows that arrived correctly look great. They were expensive, but they are very attractive.

She was courteous, helpful, patient, and knowledgeable. Sarah provided excellent service. I had a wonderful experience with Andersen.

Disappointing Craftsmanship Issues

May 17, 2016

Anderson Windows, I called concerning our Anderson windows installed in the early 90’s that replaced an earlier version of Anderson windows without the thermopanes.. I always believed that Anderson WIndows were the best available however I’m greatly disappointed that one window has a broken seal and the window turned all cloudy. Three other windows have broken sash ropes and we need to keep the windows in a locked position to keep them in place. I spoke with a customer service representative, she was a very pleasant person, and she gave me a quote ($382.35) to get them fixed plus labor!!! My husband and I are both in our 80’s and not in good enough health to attempt the job ourselves. Needless to say, the windows will stay unfixed. Windows should last many more years with good care. I now know that there are more superior windows than Anderson and would not recommend them to anyone. Shame on your poor craftsmanship.

Anderson Windows Forever Door Issue

November 24, 2015

Anderson Windows, If I could rate lower than 1 star, I would. Serial #4691301, a Forever door by Emco is a joke. I didn’t mind that the warranty ran out, but I was unable to replace two spring loaded (plastic) parts that keep the storm window up and locked. They broke and the only answer I got was to purchase the entire window with plastic parts in place. Guess what, they not available. Believe me, I will never purchase a “Forever Door” or any other Anderson product in the future.
