CoverGirl Customer Service Phone Number, Complaints and Product Help

CoverGirl customers may need help with a product question, discontinued lipstick or foundation shade, mascara problem, damaged cosmetic, unusual odor or texture, retailer return, product reaction or unresolved complaint. CoverGirl is a Coty beauty brand, and consumer assistance is available by telephone and through Coty’s Consumer Affairs system.

Quick Answer: Call CoverGirl Consumer Service at 1-800-426-8374, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Central Time. For online assistance, use Coty Consumer Affairs. Product reactions, suspected manufacturing defects and quality concerns should be reported to CoverGirl; ordinary returns and exchanges generally begin with the retailer that sold the product.
Use the correct support route: For a normal return, wrong shade, damaged shipment or missing online order, contact the retailer first. Contact CoverGirl for a suspected product defect, reaction, unusual odor or texture, broken applicator, discontinued shade, ingredient question or other manufacturer-related concern.

How to Contact CoverGirl Customer Service

CoverGirl does not currently publish one universal direct consumer-service email address for U.S. customers. Use the official consumer telephone number or Coty’s online Consumer Affairs system rather than an email address found on an unofficial support directory.

Best CoverGirl Support Route by Issue

  • Product reaction: Stop using the cosmetic, obtain appropriate medical advice and contact CoverGirl with the product information.
  • Serious medical symptoms: Seek urgent medical care before dealing with an ordinary customer-service complaint.
  • Unusual odor, texture or possible contamination: Stop using the product, preserve it and contact CoverGirl.
  • Broken applicator or defective packaging: Photograph the problem and contact CoverGirl.
  • Wrong shade or changed-mind return: Use the retailer’s return policy.
  • Damaged shipment or missing order: Contact the retailer or marketplace seller that fulfilled the purchase.
  • Discontinued shade: Contact CoverGirl with the exact product and shade information.
  • Ingredient or allergy question: Review the package ingredient list and contact CoverGirl with the exact product and shade.
  • Possible counterfeit product: Stop using the item and contact the seller and CoverGirl.
  • Unresolved product complaint: Keep the CoverGirl case number and escalate through Coty Consumer Service when appropriate.

What to Have Ready Before Contacting CoverGirl

Keep the cosmetic and its original packaging while the complaint is being reviewed.

  • Complete product name
  • Product type
  • Shade name and number
  • UPC or barcode
  • Lot or manufacturing code
  • Approximate purchase date
  • Retailer or marketplace seller
  • Receipt or online order record
  • Date the product was opened
  • Description of the problem
  • Date any reaction began
  • Photographs of the product and packaging
  • Previous CoverGirl case number
  • The resolution you are requesting

Provide receipts, lot numbers and health information only through an appropriate private support channel. Do not publish sensitive personal or medical information in a public review.

How to Report a Reaction to CoverGirl Makeup

Stop using a cosmetic that causes an unexpected reaction. Possible cosmetic reactions can include:

  • Redness
  • Burning
  • Itching
  • Swelling
  • Rash
  • Blistering
  • Eye irritation or watering
  • Eye pain
  • Vision changes
  • Unexpected hair or eyelash loss
  • Other unusual symptoms

For difficulty breathing, severe swelling, significant eye pain, vision changes, fainting or another serious reaction, seek urgent medical assistance.

Steps After a CoverGirl Product Reaction

  1. Stop using the suspected product.
  2. Do not use it again simply to see whether the reaction returns.
  3. Keep the product, cap, applicator and packaging.
  4. Photograph the product label, shade, UPC and lot code.
  5. Write down when the product was purchased and opened.
  6. Record when symptoms started.
  7. Contact an appropriate healthcare professional.
  8. Call CoverGirl at 1-800-426-8374.
  9. Ask for a consumer-service case number.
  10. Consider reporting the cosmetic problem to the FDA.

CoverGirl customer service can document a consumer complaint but cannot diagnose or treat a medical condition.

How to Report a CoverGirl Cosmetic Complaint to the FDA

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration accepts reports involving cosmetic reactions and product-quality problems.

The FDA advises consumers who experience a reaction to stop using the product, contact a healthcare provider and report the problem.

Reportable issues can include:

  • Rash or redness
  • Burns
  • Hair loss
  • Infection
  • Unexpected illness or reaction
  • Bad or unusual odor
  • Unexpected color change
  • Foreign material
  • Possible contamination

Use the FDA Cosmetic Product Complaint page. Consumers can also call the FDA Food and Cosmetics Information Center at 1-888-723-3366 and select Option 4.

An FDA report is a safety report. It does not automatically create a CoverGirl refund, replacement or compensation claim.

CoverGirl Mascara and Eye-Makeup Complaints

Contact CoverGirl when mascara, eyeliner or another eye cosmetic appears defective or causes an unexpected problem.

Examples include:

  • Burning or irritation
  • Redness or swelling
  • Dry or unusually wet mascara
  • Clumping that appears abnormal for the product
  • Broken applicator
  • Unusual odor
  • Possible contamination
  • Unexpected eyelash damage or loss

Eye Makeup Safety

  • Do not add water or saliva to dried mascara.
  • Do not share eye cosmetics.
  • Keep containers and applicators clean.
  • Do not use eye makeup during an eye infection.
  • Discard eye cosmetics used while an infection was present.
  • Do not use a lip product near the eye unless the label says it is intended for that use.
  • Stop using any eye product that causes irritation.
  • Seek medical advice when symptoms persist or are severe.

Do not mail a used mascara wand or potentially contaminated cosmetic until CoverGirl provides appropriate instructions.

CoverGirl Product Smells, Looks or Feels Different

A possible product-quality problem can involve:

  • Rancid or unusual odor
  • Unexpected color change
  • Separation
  • Dryness
  • Excessive oiliness
  • Grainy texture
  • Visible foreign material
  • Leaking packaging
  • Broken seal
  • Damaged applicator
  • Evidence that the product was previously opened

Do not mix the product with water, saliva, lotion, oil or another cosmetic to restore its consistency. That can introduce contamination and make the original complaint harder to evaluate.

Preserve the Product

  • Keep the container.
  • Keep the cap and applicator.
  • Keep the carton when available.
  • Photograph the problem.
  • Record the lot code.
  • Save the receipt.
  • Store the product safely while waiting for instructions.

CoverGirl Returns and Refunds

CoverGirl makeup is sold through many retailers rather than directly through one universal CoverGirl store. The seller normally controls an ordinary return or exchange.

Contact the Retailer For

  • Wrong shade
  • Changed-mind return
  • Damaged shipment
  • Missing item
  • Wrong item
  • Duplicate online order
  • Normal refund to the original payment method
  • Marketplace-order problem

Contact CoverGirl For

  • Suspected manufacturing defect
  • Cosmetic reaction
  • Possible contamination
  • Unusual odor or texture
  • Broken product or applicator
  • Lot-code question
  • Discontinued-product question
  • Product-use information

Do not assume that every manufacturer complaint results in a cash refund. The retailer, CoverGirl or Coty may determine whether a refund, replacement, coupon or another remedy is appropriate.

CoverGirl Purchased at Walmart, Target or Amazon

If the product itself is not defective and you simply need a return, exchange or delivery correction, start with the seller shown on the receipt or order history.

  • Walmart: Use the Walmart receipt, order history or customer-service process.
  • Target: Use the Target receipt, Target account or Guest Services.
  • Amazon: Check whether Amazon or a third-party marketplace seller actually sold the product.
  • Drugstore: Review that retailer’s cosmetics-return policy.
  • Beauty retailer: Use the store’s order and rewards-account records.

If an ordinary retailer return is still available, do not allow the retailer’s return deadline to expire while waiting for a manufacturer response.

CoverGirl Product Damaged During Delivery

If a CoverGirl product arrives broken, leaking or opened:

  1. Photograph the shipping package.
  2. Photograph the damaged cosmetic.
  3. Keep the shipping label privately.
  4. Keep the original product packaging.
  5. Contact the retailer or marketplace seller.
  6. Contact CoverGirl separately if the problem appears to be a manufacturing defect rather than shipping damage.

Do not use makeup with a broken safety seal, shattered container, exposed applicator or evidence of prior use.

Discontinued CoverGirl Products and Shades

CoverGirl shades and formulas can be discontinued, renamed, reformulated or replaced. A newer shade may look similar without being an exact formula or color match.

When contacting CoverGirl, provide:

  • Full discontinued product name
  • Shade name
  • Shade number
  • UPC when available
  • Approximate year purchased
  • Finish or formula type
  • Photograph of the original package or label

Ask whether CoverGirl can suggest:

  • A current shade with a similar undertone
  • A replacement formula
  • A shade-conversion suggestion
  • A current product available through its Virtual Try-On tool

Buying Discontinued CoverGirl Makeup Online

Use caution with old cosmetics offered by marketplace sellers. Storage conditions and product age may be unknown.

  • Check the seller and return policy.
  • Look for clear photographs of the actual item.
  • Confirm whether the product is sealed.
  • Avoid visibly damaged or faded packaging.
  • Consider how old the product may be.
  • Do not use makeup that smells or looks abnormal.

A high resale price does not prove that old makeup is authentic, fresh or stored safely.

Finding a Replacement CoverGirl Shade

CoverGirl currently offers shade-matching and virtual try-on tools for many face, lip and eye products.

Visit the CoverGirl Virtual Try-On and compare:

  • Shade depth
  • Undertone
  • Finish
  • Current product photographs

Natural lighting generally provides a better comparison. Camera, display and room-lighting differences mean a virtual shade result cannot guarantee an exact match.

CoverGirl Ingredient and Allergy Questions

The ingredient list printed on the package you purchased is the most relevant source for that specific unit because formulas can differ by product, shade, region and production period.

When contacting CoverGirl about ingredients, provide:

  • Exact product name
  • Shade
  • UPC
  • Lot code
  • The ingredient of concern
  • A photograph of the package ingredient list

Customers with allergies or sensitivities should review the product label and obtain appropriate medical guidance. Customer service cannot determine whether a cosmetic is medically safe for a particular individual.

Counterfeit or Questionable CoverGirl Products

Products purchased through unfamiliar marketplace sellers can potentially be old, altered, improperly stored or counterfeit.

Possible warning signs include:

  • Misspelled packaging
  • Incorrect logo or label
  • Missing lot code
  • Broken or unusual seal
  • Unexpected odor or texture
  • Extremely low price
  • Seller without a clear return policy
  • Packaging that differs materially from current official product images

Stop using a questionable product, preserve the package and contact both the seller and CoverGirl.

CoverGirl Packaging and Applicator Problems

Contact CoverGirl when a product has a suspected manufacturing or packaging problem such as:

  • Broken mascara wand
  • Loose cap
  • Leaking tube
  • Jammed pump
  • Broken lipstick mechanism
  • Broken compact
  • Missing applicator
  • Unsealed packaging
  • Incorrect product inside the package

Photograph the product before trying to repair it or move it into another container.

How to Escalate a CoverGirl Complaint

  1. Identify the product. Record the exact name, shade, UPC and lot code.
  2. Preserve evidence. Keep the cosmetic, packaging, applicator and receipt.
  3. Contact CoverGirl. Call 1-800-426-8374.
  4. Request a case number. Keep it for follow-up contacts.
  5. Explain the resolution requested. For example, ask for product information, replacement review, refund review or shade assistance.
  6. Follow up through Coty Consumer Affairs. Use Coty Consumer Affairs or call 1-800-715-4023 when appropriate.
  7. Seek appropriate medical care for a reaction. Do not rely on consumer service for treatment.
  8. Report safety concerns to the FDA. Use the FDA cosmetic complaint process when appropriate.

CoverGirl, I bought two CoverGirl products I am not happy with. Cover Girl Cheekers Blush. Had to scrape it to get blush on brush. The other item is Tru Blend. It is very dry and needed to use baby oil in order to get coverage. I live on Social Security and cannot waste money on inadequate products.
