AutoNation Customer Service: Dealership, Service and Complaints

If you need help with an AutoNation vehicle purchase, used-car return, repair, financing document, title, registration, trade-in payoff, protection plan, collision repair, recall, or dealership complaint, begin with the AutoNation location that handled the transaction. AutoNation dealerships set their own sales, service, parts, and collision-center phone numbers and hours.

For an unresolved vehicle-purchase or service concern, AutoNation’s official Customer Feedback Team accepts complaints at customer.relations@autonation.com. Include the store name and a concise description of the problem, but do not post private financing, driver’s-license, or vehicle-contract information in a public review.

AutoNation Customer Service and Support

Important: AutoNation does not currently publish one nationwide schedule for every customer-facing department. Sales, service, parts, finance, collision, and dealership-management hours vary by location. Confirm the hours on the individual store page before visiting or calling.

Choose the Correct AutoNation Support Route

Vehicle Purchase, Deposit or Trade-In

Contact the salesperson or sales manager at the selling dealership for questions about a deposit, advertised vehicle, purchase price, trade-in, delivery, vehicle condition, missing key, promised accessory, or document. Keep the buyer’s order, purchase agreement, inspection information, trade-in paperwork, receipts, and written promises.

If the store does not resolve the issue, email AutoNation Customer Relations. AutoNation asks customers to provide their name, the AutoNation store involved, a brief description of the concern, a telephone number, and the best time to call.

Service, Repair, Parts or Warranty Problem

Start with the service advisor shown on the repair order. For a disputed diagnosis, unfinished repair, repeat failure, unexpected charge, vehicle damage, or delay, ask for the service manager. Have the repair-order number, mileage, estimate, diagnostic findings, warranty information, and requested resolution ready.

A manufacturer warranty or safety recall may require coordination with the vehicle manufacturer as well as the AutoNation dealership. A separate AutoNation protection plan is governed by its own contract and administrator; it is not the same as a factory warranty.

Collision Repair or Insurance Claim

Contact the AutoNation Collision Center handling the repair for estimates, parts delays, status, insurer approvals, rental-car questions, or workmanship concerns. Keep the estimate, claim number, photos, approvals, and final invoice. Coverage and deductible questions generally go to the insurance company.

Financing, Payments or Credit Application

Contact the dealership’s finance office for a missing contract, financing disclosure, optional-product document, lender assignment, down-payment question, or funding problem. After the loan is assigned, monthly payments, payoff quotes, due dates, late fees, account access, and credit reporting are normally handled by the lender or servicer named on the retail installment contract or billing statement.

Do not send a Social Security number, complete bank account, credit application, or full driver’s-license image through ordinary email. Verify any request for additional money by calling the dealership through the number on its official AutoNation store page.

Title, Registration, Temporary Tag or Trade-In Payoff

Ask for the selling dealership’s title or business office. Provide the purchase date, vehicle, state, temporary-tag expiration date, and only the last several characters of the VIN unless the store requests the full VIN through a secure channel. For a trade-in payoff, keep the prior lender’s payoff statement and confirm when AutoNation sent payment. If a title or registration deadline is approaching, also check with the appropriate state motor-vehicle agency.

How to Escalate an AutoNation Complaint

  1. Contact the salesperson, service advisor, collision estimator, finance manager, or parts representative who handled the transaction.
  2. Ask for the appropriate department manager and clearly state the requested resolution.
  3. If unresolved, ask for the dealership’s general manager. Keep a dated record of calls, emails, visits, promises, and reference numbers.
  4. Email customer.relations@autonation.com. Include your name, the exact store, a brief timeline, telephone number, best callback time, and the resolution requested.
  5. For a factory-warranty or recall issue, contact the vehicle manufacturer. For financing or credit-reporting issues, contact the lender or servicer named in the agreement.

The corporate-office number is not a replacement for the dealership, Customer Relations, lender, manufacturer, insurer, or protection-plan administrator. Use headquarters only after the appropriate operating channels have had an opportunity to address the complaint.

AutoNation Used-Vehicle Returns

AutoNation currently advertises a 5-day or 250-mile money-back guarantee on qualifying pre-owned vehicles. Conditions and exclusions apply, and the earlier limit controls. If you want to return a vehicle, contact the selling store immediately rather than waiting until the fifth day or the mileage limit is close. Ask what documents, keys, accessories, and vehicle-condition requirements apply and request written confirmation that the return was accepted.

Do not assume the guarantee applies to every transaction, new vehicle, shipping charge, registration cost, trade-in, or optional product. Review the signed documents governing your sale.

Protection Plans, GAP and Prepaid Maintenance

AutoNation offers optional products that may include vehicle service contracts, GAP protection, prepaid maintenance, tire-and-wheel coverage, roadside assistance, appearance protection, and other plans. The correct claims, roadside, cancellation, and refund contact may be printed on the individual agreement rather than on a universal AutoNation support page.

For coverage or a claim, call the administrator shown on the contract. For a cancellation request, contact the dealership finance office and follow the agreement’s written instructions. Ask whether a refund is available, how it is calculated, whether it will be sent to you or credited to the lender, and how long processing should take. AutoNation’s GAP page says its product can be canceled within 60 days for a full refund and later on a prorated basis, but the signed addendum and state rules control the actual transaction.

Vehicle Recall and Safety Problems

Do not rely on a public review for an urgent vehicle-safety problem. Stop driving if the vehicle appears unsafe and contact the dealership, vehicle manufacturer, roadside provider, or emergency services as appropriate. Use the official NHTSA recall lookup to check the VIN for unrepaired safety recalls.

Never publish a full VIN, license-plate number, driver’s-license information, financing account, credit application, insurance claim number, home address, payment-card number, or temporary registration in a review. CustomerServiceNumbers.com cannot view AutoNation records, approve a repair, process a return, or change a finance agreement.

AutoNation Customer Service FAQs

What is the AutoNation customer service phone number?

AutoNation directs sales, service, parts, finance, and collision questions to the individual location, so use its store locator for the correct phone number. The corporate-office number is 1-954-769-6000, but it is not a general dealership-support line.

How do I file an AutoNation complaint?

Start with the department manager and dealership general manager. If the vehicle-purchase or service complaint remains unresolved, email customer.relations@autonation.com with the store name, brief concern, telephone number, best callback time, and requested resolution.

Are AutoNation hours the same at every dealership?

No. Sales, service, parts, finance, and collision-center hours vary by location and department. Check the individual store page.

Can I return a used vehicle to AutoNation?

AutoNation advertises a 5-day or 250-mile money-back guarantee on qualifying pre-owned vehicles, subject to terms and exclusions. Contact the selling dealership immediately and review the signed guarantee.

Who handles an AutoNation car payment?

The lender or servicer shown on the retail installment contract or billing statement normally handles payments after financing is assigned. Contact the dealership finance office if you do not know which company received the contract.

How do I cancel an AutoNation protection plan?

Review the plan contract and contact the selling dealership’s finance office or the administrator listed in the agreement. Request the cancellation and refund calculation in writing.

Who handles an AutoNation title or temporary-tag delay?

Ask for the selling dealership’s title or business office. If a temporary tag is close to expiring, contact the store promptly and check with the state motor-vehicle agency.
