Found myself in a position of having a deadline to send money, with no other means open to my intended recipient at the destination. And damage to and loss of service at the destination, if the money was not received.
Would the Western Union Co. please be aware that through the incompetence of 3 clerks at the Fred Meyer WU outlet, I was denied service, because, as they concurred, they did not "feel comfortable" sending it for me. The conversation facts were as follows:
"Want to send $1119. 55,000 PP. (verified exchange rate before applying) "You will be sending 54,870 PP" "Can you add a couple dollars? I think I need to stay above the minimum. Maybe he'll need the minimum, to send further." (clerk: pause) " I don't feel comfortable doing this." "What's comfortable? Is that in your job description? This MUST be sent today! I don't feel comfortable, either. Just do it!" "Who is this you are sending to? Why are you sending it? "I can't do it!" "None of your damn business! Just SEND it!" "I can't."
(the NAME of the person is printed on the form, with his title-- lawyer )"Call your supervisor." (She says the identical thing to me.) I say "this is a public service. Where does it say in your training manual 'not comfortable' is a sufficient reason for not doing your job?" (No answer) "The reason I'm here is that there is no other W U open. It MUST be done tonight. [15 minutes from closing, Thursday, July 14, 2017] Get me the store manager. (A cell conversation ensues. He appears. The whole thing is repeated, as in a production rehearsal) He is "uncomfortable", too! I ask him what the basis is for not performing the advertised service: to send money. He does not respond. I say "I'm asking you to do this, now!" His answer? "I agree with them" I say "why does that not surprise me?" Of course, again, he doesn't answer me. I walk away. There is now not time to find the W U in the next city, 20 miles away.
This arbitrary refusal of service has caused me great pain and inconvenience. It has caused the people and the lawyer recipients damage to their business opportunity.
I request that W U take notice of this incident, and action on Fred Meyer as though YOU were in my position. Consider how this (non-) behavior will adversely affect your business. It's already damaged mine!

1/21/2017 Western Union - I would like to give zero stars but this is not
I would like to give zero stars but this is not technically possible. First, they overcharge to send money. Second, their location map is inaccurate, outdated and in some cases wildly wrong. Third, many of their employees seem to take a perverse pleasure in making things as difficult as possible. I will not go into the entire saga of my day. The short version is that I am in a foreign country trying to access money sent by a friend. He also experienced considerable trouble trying to send money. It took him close to a dozen attempts over two days before he achieved success. Due to a fault in their system he had to do two transactions and pay for both; Today I spent 6 hours of my life attempting to track down a location where I could pick up the money and I still haven't received it all.

I mailed a money order to time warner cable on 7-6- 16 and twc didn't receive it. They called western union last month and they said it hadn't been cashed. I called today and the representative said give them 24hrs to see what happen to money order. This has caused a problem with twc because I have never missed a payment. the money order was purchase on 7-1-16 I paide $15.00 to have the money traced and sent a copy of money order receite. I need this problem taken care of as soon possible. Thank you!

2/22/2016 Western Union - My problem is the agent is very hard to understand
I think the process of sending money via the Western Union is okay. My problem is the agent is very hard to understand and information required could be entered incorrectly. I have used this service twice in the last 2 weeks and both times the agent did not speak clearly and was very hard to understand and also the phone is in an open area and anyone in the location could hear everything I was saying. May look for a different way to send money out of the area. It's also expensive. I could have driven to the area I was sending it to and back for less money.
