Detergent Safety and Poison Exposure

Laundry detergent and detergent pacs must be stored in their original closed containers, out of sight and reach of children. Dreft states that its pac containers should be securely closed after every use.

If detergent is swallowed or gets in someone’s eyes, follow the directions on the product label and contact Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. Poison Control assistance is free, confidential and available 24 hours a day in the United States.

If someone collapses, has a seizure, has difficulty breathing or cannot be awakened, call 911 immediately.

Dreft Product Complaints and Quality Problems

Contact Dreft customer service when a detergent, stain remover, scent booster or laundry pac does not perform as expected. Product complaints may involve poor stain removal, an unexpected change in scent or consistency, a damaged cap, leaking packaging, clumped pacs or a container that is difficult to open or close.

Before discarding the product or its packaging, record the following:

  • Complete product name and variety
  • Container size
  • UPC or barcode number
  • Lot or production code
  • Purchase date and retailer
  • Description of the problem
  • Photographs of damage, leakage or unusual product condition
  • Receipt or other proof of purchase

Explain what happened, how the product was used and whether the problem affected more than one load. Ask the representative for a case or reference number and retain it until the matter is resolved.

Dreft Ingredients and Sensitive-Skin Questions

Dreft sells several formulas, including Stage 1, Stage 2, Free & Gentle, detergent pacs, scent boosters and other laundry products. Ingredients can differ by formula and may change, so consumers should review the label for the exact product they purchased.

The official Dreft ingredient guide provides product-specific information and links to detailed ingredient disclosures. Have the complete product name and UPC available when asking customer service about a fragrance, dye, preservative, enzyme or other ingredient.

Product descriptions such as “hypoallergenic” or “gentle on sensitive skin” do not replace individualized medical advice. Anyone concerned about eczema, allergies, a persistent rash or another medical condition should consult an appropriate healthcare professional.

Dreft Detergent Pac Safety

Dreft laundry pacs contain concentrated detergent. Store them in their original package, completely close the package after every use and keep it where children cannot see or reach it. Handle pacs with dry hands and do not cut, puncture or allow children to handle them.

Dreft provides package-closing instructions, storage information and accidental-exposure guidance on its laundry and detergent pac safety page.

Dreft Money-Back Guarantee

Dreft currently publishes a satisfaction guarantee for eligible purchases. According to its official instructions, a refund request must include:

  1. A completed Dreft money-back satisfaction guarantee form
  2. The original UPC removed from the Dreft product
  3. The original purchase receipt with the purchase price circled

The mailing address and additional conditions are provided on the downloadable form. Review the current Dreft money-back guarantee before mailing anything because eligibility requirements and submission instructions may change.

Make a copy or photograph of the completed form, UPC and receipt before mailing the originals. A retailer return is separate from the Dreft guarantee and remains subject to the retailer’s policy.

Checking for Dreft Recalls

Consumers concerned about a product’s safety or lot code can search the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission recall database. Search for “Dreft,” “Procter & Gamble” and the specific product name.

A product-quality complaint does not necessarily mean the product has been recalled. If customer service identifies a recall or special product notice, follow the instructions supplied for the affected UPC and lot code.

How to Escalate a Dreft Complaint

  1. Start with Dreft customer service at 1-800-436-2229 or the official contact form.
  2. Provide the complete product name, UPC, lot code, purchase information and a concise explanation of the problem.
  3. Request a case number and record the date of the conversation.
  4. If the first response does not resolve the issue, ask for the case to be reviewed by a supervisor or consumer-relations specialist.
  5. For a corporate matter, use the P&G contact information rather than a retailer’s customer service department.

Additional company information is available from the official P&G contact page and the independent Procter & Gamble corporate office guide.

Dreft Customer Reviews and Complaints

CustomerServiceNumbers.com currently displays two Dreft reviews. One reviewer reported that a recently purchased Dreft stain remover did not remove several stains as effectively as an older product. Another reviewer said the detergent itself was satisfactory but that the container’s cap was repeatedly difficult to open.

These two reviews identify separate product-performance and packaging concerns, but the sample is too small to establish a broad complaint trend. Consumers can add a review below describing the specific Dreft product, approximate purchase date, issue and response received from customer service.

Draft laundry stain remover has changed for the worst

August 4, 2023

have used your Draft laundry stain remover for years. it once seemed to remove virtually any stain. my method of use has never changed. Recently, after purchasing a new bottle, I needed to remove three different stains. one a vegetable cooking oil from a light tan shirt and white shorts, it did not remove Dran did. a second occurrence was tomato stain from a light colored blouse, again Dreft did not work. lastly Chocolate stain on a yellow blouse again no use. All of these stains previously came out with Dreft. what did you change? it seems nothing is being removed anymore.

Dreft Cap is Difficult to Open

February 14, 2016

Dreft, The product is fine. I have had difficulty numerous times attempting to open the pink cap. It is apparently vacuumed closed so that the plastic has melted the cap shut and unable to open. I have had to resort to jabbing the top of the cap with a sharp knife and literally cutting the top away so that I could pour the liquid. I have actually stopped using Dreft for this reason.. Last week, I purchased one after a long while and the same thing happened again. So I decided to write and tell you. I don’t want to have to open the lid in the store before purchase each time so I don’t plan to purchase it at all, unless you can respond with a good reason why I should.

Thank you.
